What is AIDA64?

AIDA64 Extreme is "the"  industry-leading system information tool from Hungarian company FinalWire Ltd (a privately held company located in Budapest, Hungary). AIDA64 Extreme has a hardware detection engine unrivalled in its class. It provides detailed information about installed software and offers diagnostic functions and support for overclocking. As it is monitoring sensors in real time, it can gather accurate voltage, temperature and fan speed readings, while its diagnostic functions help detect and prevent hardware issues. It also offers benchmarks for measuring the performance of individual hardware components and the whole system. It is compatible with all 32-bit and 64-bit Windows editions, including Windows 11 and Windows Server 2022.

User interface
The main functions of AIDA64 are accessible from the Menu bar. Below the 'Menu bar', we can find the 'Toolbar', with which we can navigate through the pages. Located in the left column below the 'Toolbar', the 'Page menu' displays a list of hardware and software categories, details of which open in the information windows on the right. The 'Page menu' list is grouped into the following categories:

The information window displays specific information pertaining to each category from the page menu. A right-click on any single item will copy the related page information to the clipboard. In the center of the status bar at the bottom of the window we can see the remote connection status , which is “Local” by default. However, when AIDA64 is connected to a remote computer the bar will display “Remote” and the name of the remote computer.

The 'Page Menu', located on the left side of the window, acts as your roadmap for exploring your system. It organizes information into two main categories: (1) Hardware, and (2) Software. See the categories of each below.

Hardware Monitoring
Offers the user features to configure the hardware monitoring services of his system. Categories for 'Hardware Monitoring' are below: 
 
  • Display temperatures in Fahrenheit

    In the sensor icons, the OSD panel, the Desktop Gadget and the SensorPanel, temperature values are displayed in Fahrenheit (rather than Celsius) when this option is enabled.

  • Enable CPU throttling measurement

    This option can be used to enable CPU throttling measurement on Intel processors. Measuring throttling may cause system instability. Throttling is a self-protection mechanism in Intel processors to prevent physical damage due to overheating.

  • Enable disk temperature measurement

    Here we can enable or disable disk temperature monitoring.

  • Disk temperature polling frequency

    With this option, we can configure the interval between disk temperature measurements. Setting this option to less than 20 seconds may result in data corruption on older hard disk drives. For modern HDDs and SSDs, it is safe to enter any value of our choice.

  • Decimal digits for voltage values

    With this option, we can set the number of decimal digits to be displayed for voltage readings. For modern computers, selecting at least 3 digits is recommended.

  • Decimal digits for clock speeds

    With this option, we can set the number of decimal digits to be displayed for clock speeds, e.g. CPU core clock, FSB clock and memory clock.

  • Tjmax temperature

    With this option, we can set the Tjmax temperature that is used to calculate core temperature readings for Intel processors. When “Automatic” is selected, AIDA64 will use the default values as defined in the Intel Digital Thermal Sensors (DTS) specifications.

  • Degree symbol

    With this option, we can configure the character to be used as a degree symbol for temperature readings.

Benchmarks
The benchmark pages of AIDA64 offer various methods to measure system performance. These benchmarks are synthetic, meaning the results indicate only the theoretical (maximum) performance of the system. Unlike application tests, synthetic benchmarks do not typically reflect the "real world" performance of the computer. However, they provide a quick and easy way to compare different computer states, such as changes in CPU clock speed or memory timings.

The memory bandwidth, CPU, and FPU benchmarks of AIDA64 are built on the multi-threaded AIDA64 benchmark engine, which now supports up to 2048 simultaneous processing threads and 32 processor groups for Engineer and Business variants. For AIDA64 Extreme, it supports up to 256 threads and 4 processor groups.

The results are scalable across multi-processor (SMP), multi-core (CMP), and HyperThreading-enabled systems. In other words, AIDA64 can fully utilize the current and next-generation CPU technologies, such as AMD Opteron, AMD Ryzen, Intel Core, and Intel Xeon processors. 

 
  • Cache & Memory Benchmark

    This benchmark evaluates your system's cache and memory (RAM) performance by measuring read, write, and copy speeds, along with latency.  It helps identify potential bottlenecks and optimize memory settings for improved system responsiveness.   • CPU & FPU Benchmarks

    AIDA64 provides a comprehensive suite of CPU, FPU, and memory benchmarks, accessible on the Benchmark page in the main window. These synthetic benchmarks allow you to evaluate your system's performance from multiple angles. They focus on specific aspects of the processor, such as integer operations, floating-point calculations, and combined scenarios that include memory access and bandwidth. This detailed analysis helps in identifying performance bottlenecks and optimizing system settings for enhanced efficiency and responsiveness.   • Disk Benchmark

    This benchmark measures the read and write performance of your storage devices, including HDDs, SSDs, RAID arrays, USB drives, and memory cards. It provides detailed insights into sequential and random access speeds, helping to identify potential bottlenecks and optimize storage performance. Report
All the system information provided by AIDA64 can be written to a report file, inserted to a SQL database or printed using the AIDA64 Report Wizard. HTML and MHTML report files can later be opened in a web browser, XML and CSV reports can be sent for postprocessing to compile a network audit.

Backing Up AIDA64 Settings
AIDA64 stores its configuration across several INI files, optional history files, and certain Windows Registry keys. To preserve your settings, benchmarks, and profiles, you should back up both the configuration files and the relevant registry entries.

Note: Not all AIDA64 editions use all of the files listed below, some files are only present if the corresponding feature is available and used in that edition. See table below.

I have version 7 so mine is old. I see many improvements and support for new video cards. I like the tests for hard drive and ram benchmarks. Maybe I request more interface colors but better is more video tutorials so newbies can understand better correct usage maybe when like you have new component, how to test it. Tech people understand AIDA64 but newbies just use tools and sometimes do not understand better so request. Thanks you for this contest! Two years license is great! Thanks you!

I like the upgraded diagnostics, cache/ram, GPGPU, benchmarking and system stability test. This always aids me to determine if my system is okay or something isn't right. The ram benchmarks aided me last year that one of my ram sticks is failing thus the replacement and that was a good and timely thing. I want to join this giveaway because I want to avail of the a new maintenance because mine has expired already. This  giveaway gives the opportunity to have 2 years of maintenance! What I like about AIDA64 Extreme v8 is that it brings real improvements over version 7. It runs fully in 64-bit, the interface adapts better to different screens and DPI settings, and the SensorPanel is more stable and functional. Support for the newest hardware is also faster and more complete than in the previous version.
I would like to win an AIDA64 Extreme license because it allows me to fully use all diagnostic tools, monitor hardware on modern systems, and work conveniently without time limitations.
