Called “Quiet notification requests”, the feature is not new and was available as a flag on Google Chrome Canary last year. Microsoft is now rolling the feature out to all the Chromium Edge users. To try out the feature, you will need to follow the steps below.

• Launch Microsoft Edge and click on the Eclipse icon on the top right corner of the browser.
  
• Navigate to Settings > Site Permissions > Notifications.
  
• Enable “Quiet notification requests” which will stop all the web notifications.
  

To start receiving notification requests again, you will need to go back and disable the “Quiet notification requests” option in the Notification settings.

The feature is currently available for Microsoft Edge version 83 or higher. So, if you're using Edge Canary, Dev or Beta then you should have this option. For stable users, the feature will be available with Edge version 83 update.
