Folder Marker Pro is a folder icon changer specially designed for office work. This Windows add-on lets you label important folders with color-coded or image-coded icons in order to make them easier to spot among hundreds of similar-looking yellow folders. You can change folder icon to label them by priority (high, normal, low), project completeness level (done, half-done, planned), by work status (approved, rejected, pending), and type of information stored (work, important, temp and private files). Changed folder icons catch the eye and let you see the kind of information they contain before you read their names or open them.

Helps any user organize his workspace
A user having a ton of folders and files almost always wastes precious time searching for files and folders in his local hard drive. This especially tiresome when a user searched by way of "keywords" and "file names" and "tags". Having folders with distinct color or features helps the user spot "his" folders eliminating loss time. If a user organizes his folders say, color code's a certain section as "green" --identifying all green folders as "work images", or, assigning the color "purple" as --personal images / pictures, or, again assigning a "custom icon" to --all folder / sub-folders that pertains to "all computer software applications", then that in effect is and will definitely help him (the user) towards organizing his workspace (thus saving precious time) that is almost always wasted when searching tons of files and folders.

Adding Icons / Icon Sets
Folder Marker Pro permits the addition of icons from the internet in addition to the purchase of "icon sets" from Folder Marker home site (Additional icon sets can be purchased at http://foldermarker.com/en/additional-icons/) . The user can add the downloaded icons via Folder Icons > User Icons > Add > Select Icons (browse to the location of the icons) > click "OK" after which the icon will automatically appear in the User Icon space. 

Sites that offer icon / icon packages are Icons8 (icons8.com), DeviantArt (deviantart.com), Iconfinder (iconfinder.com), IconArchive (iconarchive.com), and Icon-Icons (icon-icons.com) to name a few. There are a lot of sources where a user can get "free icons" to supplement Folder Marker Pro. It's all over the internet! A user can also create from scratch his desired icons (via Paint, Photoshop or even PowerPoint) , save it in .PNG and upload it to "CONVERTICO" https://convertico.com/ where it will convert the .PNG files to icon files (.ico). The uploader / user can just download his converted .ico file for his use.  Note: Starting version 4.5, the user's .PNG file are directly converted to .ico files in Folder Marker Pro version.

A user is given the leeway to choose where to store additional icons/icon sets but Folder Marker advises that it be store in D:\Icons. This will add more order to things in the user's computer and will prevent accidental deleting of the downloaded icons. Plus, if user decides to reinstall his system or upgrade his computer in the future, he will know that he needs to copy D:\Icons to a new machine to save all custom icons for Folder Marker. This of course is just a suggestion and the user is always "king" in his own domain!





Change a folder icon to a custom icon
To do this, user just needs to select the desired folder to which he wants to change the existing icon and right-click > Mark Folder > select desired icon (presets) then click "Apply" to execute the change.

If a "user-installed-icon" or "custom icon" is desired, go to >More Icons.... From there the user just needs to go to the Folder Icons > select desired icon and click "Apply" to execute the change. The Folder icons given are (1) ABC, (2) Additional, (3) Colors, (4) Everyday10, (5) Main, (6) User Icon, and (7) Custom. User can also add more icons or icon sets he wants.

Color-code / Image-code Multiple Folders
The most easiest way to color-code (or image-code) multiple folders out rightly is to select all desired folders and drag-and-drop it in the "Folder Area" (folder space). Once all folders are "dropped" the user need only to select the folder icon desired and click "Apply" to execute changing of folder icon. 

Another method is to select the folders the user wants to change icons to then right-click > Mark Folder > select the desired icon (presets) or if a "user-installed-icon" go to >More Icons.... From there the user just needs to go to the Folder Icons > User Icons > select desired icon and click "Apply" to execute the change. To "restore" the old folder icons, the user need to right-click all the folders previously changed > Mark Folder > Restore Default.

Backup customizing data / Restore customizing data
Folder Marker pro lets the user backup/ restore his customizable data anytime via Action > Backup customizing data / Restore customizing data. If needed there is also a "Rollback All Changes" for the user.

Folder Marker Home lets the user label folders with color-coded and image-coded icons with one mouse click, which makes them easy to find and retrieve. User simply selects the folder he wants to label, right-click on its icon, select a color-coded icon from the drop-down menu and the folder color changes at once! That simple!

This means a color-coded icon remains unchanged even if the folder is copied onto a new computer or the system has been re-installed.   • Windows 11 support has been added. All the build-in icons were re-drawn to match Windows 11 icon style.

  • Optimized work with ICL files. Now Folder Marker applies icons from ICL files much faster. Speed increase might be up to 30x for ICL files with 500+ icons inside.

I like the built-in colored folders and the way you can automatically convert image files to be icons. Of course you can do this manually but with Folder Marker it seems very easy. No effort at all! Just select and replace that's it! Very nice! I do not know of folder marking software until I saw this giveaway! They have a free version too with the colored folders I like! Usually I do not entertain thoughts of having to change folders look but when you get confused on what you are looking for well you get that feeling "I hope there's a better way to do this" --syndrome. I like to win Pro version so I can use pro features with the bonus of the Everyday Icon folders! VERY NICE FIND INDEED! Thanks for supporting our forum! Thanks jasonX for coming back!

I have not found a way to change default folder icon or changing icons for multiple folders at once, within Windows itself. Folder Marker makes it easy to change the default icon for every folder at once.
I would like to win Folder Marker Pro license to make my Explorer look better than now and to have a better and happier workflow.

The feature I like best is change folder icon to label them by priority, project completeness level, work status, and type of information stored.
With Folder Marker Pro, I want to change the monotonous default color of the system icons to make them look more colorful and comfortable. In addition . I intend to mark those important folders with different icons and colors so that I can find them at a glance among the large number of folders.  thank you a lot.

Folder Marker Pro allows you to organize your PC by using different icons to mark folders. This improves our productivity because we can quickly find the documents we need. The use of colours can be used to prioritise particular documents, or their status such as open, in progress, completed or their importance to the user. You can also create custom folders. 
I would like to win a licence for Folder Marker Pro to make working with documents easier by marking them up and identifying them quickly. Plus it's great fun to create custom folders.

My favorite feature is Folder Marker Pro can label folders according to different categories. Since I have a large number of files to process in my daily work, I want to use Folder Marker to mark my folders as important and unimportant, frequently used and infrequently used, so as to further improve my work efficiency and reserve some time to do what I like.
