Intel promised to provide an update on the instability issue affecting the 13th and 14th Gen Core CPU series, and this update was shared today. The company has determined four scenarios that might have led to the instability of Raptor Lake CPUs.

The instability, called Vmin Shift, was identified by Intel as being localized within the IA core’s tree circuit. The company explains that this circuit is particularly vulnerable to reliability aging due to increased voltage and temperatures, which is common with Intel K-series processors and those that were overclocked manually by users or motherboard vendors.

The fourth issue will be addressed with a microcode update called 0x12B, which includes the 0x125 and 0x129 updates that mitigated previously discovered issues. Intel isn’t directly stating that this is the final update, but it has indicated that four scenarios were identified, and this update covers the last one.
