Spotted by hardware detective HXL, the newest AMD chipset driver (6.10.02.1849) is now available for download. The file was listed by AMD partner ASUS, who is offering this update for owners of X670E and newer motherboards.

The Ryzen AI MAX 300 is a rumored name for the upcoming Strix Halo series, a high-end APU design equipped with Zen 5 and RDNA 3.5 architecture. Unlike the mainstream Strix Point, now shipping as Ryzen AI 300 (following its change from Ryzen 9050 and later Ryzen AI 100), and Kraken, a low-end option also rumored to be included with Strix Halo.

The AMD Ryzen AI MAX 300 is said to feature up to 16 Zen 5 cores and up to 40 RDNA 3.5 Compute Units. This high-end chip is designed for workstations (and perhaps gaming system), and the fact that AMD is creating an entirely new series for this silicon may suggest it will occupy a different product category than existing models.

According to rumors, AMD is working on three SKUs: the Ryzen AI MAX+ 395, featuring 16 cores and 40 CUs; the Ryzen AI MAX 390, with 12 cores and 40 CUs; and the Ryzen AI MAX 385, with 8 cores and 32 CUs. Even the lowest option, the 385, would have twice as many GPU cores as the Ryzen AI 9 HX 375, which is currently AMD’s fastest APU.
