Sticking to 65W TDP.
AMD has officially announced its new desktop CPU, currently the lowest-tier Zen 5 SKU for desktops. The CPU is now listed on AMD’s website, with regional availability marked as “Global,” meaning it will be available worldwide. More importantly, it is not an OEM-only part but a consumer variant, complete with boxed packaging and a bundled cooler.
This CPU features a 6-core configuration, similar to the Ryzen 5 9600X, and retains its 65W TDP. However, the clock speed has been adjusted to 5.2 GHz, down from 5.4 GHz on the X version, reflecting a 200 MHz difference.

Currently, the SKU listed under AMD OPN code “100-100000718BOX” is not available through any retailers. It is unclear when it will be released or at what price. The Ryzen 5 9600X is currently available for $249, which is $30 less than its original MSRP from August. This new SKU will likely target a significantly lower price point, possibly around $200.
It’s worth noting that AMD also offers the Ryzen 8000G series, which includes powerful integrated graphics. However, these models are not intended for “enthusiast desktops,” meaning they are less optimized for gaming with discrete GPUs. In contrast, the Ryzen 5 9600 CPU is expected to deliver better performance in such scenarios.
