There hasn’t been any processor launch for a while, especially in the consumer market, but today AMD announced a new mobile APU called Ryzen AI 5 330, a low-end processor for laptops.

The company confirmed the specs: it features 1x Zen5 core and 3x Zen5c cores, making it a quad-core processor with SMT (so 8 threads). This SKU is clocked at 3.4 GHz (Zen5c base) up to 4.5 GHz (Zen5 Boost) and comes with 4MB of L2 cache and 8MB of L3 cache.

By default, the Ryzen AI 5 330 runs at 28W but can be configured down to 15W. The CPU is designed for FP8 socket.

In terms of AI acceleration, it includes the full XDNA2 processor with 50 TOPS support, the same as any Strix APU. For graphics, it has two compute units based on RDNA3.5, marketed as Radeon 820M.

This APU is based on Krackan Point 2, as revealed in earlier leaks. AMD is not mentioning the “2” in official specs, though. This design should succeed the long-overdue Mendocino update, which featured Zen2 and RDNA2 and was a budget APU design for Chromebooks.
