Quote:Nearly a month ago we reported that Windows 10’s issue-laden October 2018 update had broken mapped network drives, and the issue wouldn’t be fixed until 2019. It looks like Microsoft got ahead of it quicker than expected because the fix is available now.

According to Liam Tung, reporting for ZDNet, Windows 10’s 1809 KB4469342 update corrects the issue:

Quote:KB4469342 nudges Windows 10 1809 up to build number 17763.168 and finally addresses the bug preventing mapped drives reconnecting when users log on to a Windows PC.

Microsoft put it through four previews with Windows Insiders since pulling the update from general availability in early October due to the data-deleting bug.

Until now Microsoft has been offering admins a workaround for the mapped-drives issue, but some IT pros have warned against using it because it may harm business applications.

There are still some issues present even in this new build, like Windows Media Player’s broken seek bar. Fortunately, the word on the street is that a fix is coming on December 11th, so that’ll be one more squashed bug.
