Windows 10 Begins Warning Users of Approaching Expiration Date - silversurfer - 15 July 19

Quote:Microsoft will begin showing notifications on devices running Windows 10 versions that are set to expire soon, as the company wants all users to update to supported releases before the end of support date is reached.

Microsoft typically displays end of life notifications on older Windows versions, including Windows 7, but as far as Windows 10 is concerned, such an approach is yet to be used here.
But beginning with the Windows 10 April 2018 Update, which is set to go dark later this year, Microsoft will warn users that updating to a newer release is the only way to go to continue getting new features and security improvements. When a Windows version reaches the end of support, it no longer receives updates and security patches.

A message spotted by WL in Windows Update on a Windows 10 April 2018 Update (version 1803) device warns users that the end of support is approaching.
“You’re currently running a version of Windows that’s nearing the end of support. We recommend you update to the most recent version of Windows 10 now to get the latest features and security improvements,” this message in Windows Update reads.
