Intel discontinues its Gemini Lake CPUs
#1
Information
Quote:First introduced back in 2017, Intel is retiring its Gemini Lake family of CPUs. It's since been replaced with Gemini Lake Refresh (Gemini Lake R), which was launched last year, so discontinuing the 2017 models is no surprise. The change was spotted by Tom's Hardware.

Gemini Lake consists of entry-level CPUs that come from the Pentium Silver (J5005 and N5000) and Celeron (J4115, J4105, J4005, N4100, N4000, and N4000C) families. All of the CPUs are either dual- or quad-core, and are not hyperthreaded. The J-series ones are 10W, while the N-series CPUs are 6W. Of course, this has nothing to do with Pentium Gold, which is actually a full Core CPU.

The last Pentium Silver orders will be taken on October 23, with the final orders shipping on April 2 or next year, while the last Celeron orders will be taken on January 22 of next year, with the last orders shipping on July 9.

The Gemini Lake R processors that replaced the ones being discontinued aren't very different in any meaningful way, meaning that they're still 14nm (like most of Intel's lineup), they're still dual- and quad-core, and they still have 6W and 10W TDPs. They have slightly higher clock speeds though.
