According to the Cupertino firm, the news section is set to be the "most comprehensive resource available" on the elections from sources including ABC News, CBS News, CNN, FiveThirtyEight, Fox News, NBC News, ProPublica, Reuters, The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, TIME, USA Today, and others.
Essentially, the new section is intended to be a one-stop-shop for non-partisan guides, data, and information on topics ranging from presidential candidate guides, foreign affairs, income inequality, trade, immigration, education, and health care. Out of these, the presidential candidate guide will be providing a variety of data on each candidate including their biography, experience, notable moments, quotations, current position on key issues, and recent press/media coverage.
The elections section will also house real-time coverage of major events such as Super Tuesday, Democratic and Republican conventions, election night and the 2021 presidential inauguration. The first scheduled live transmission will be of the next Democratic debate on February 7, and will be aired from ABC News on Apple News as well as the Apple TV app.
Moreover, data gathered from the Associated Press detailing each candidate's progress will also be shown. This includes a live display of a candidate's election results and wins for each county as well as each state. Likewise, FiveThirtyEight also will be providing state and national polling data, infographics and data-driven analysis.
