Quote:Late last year, Apple was rumored to be working on a Tile competitor called AirTags that would serve as an item tracker. References to this unreleased product were first spotted in code for iOS 13 back in November, and today Apple may have inadvertently confirmed AirTags in a tutorial video posted to YouTube.
First seen by blog site Appleosophy, the video shows a method to reset an iPhone to factory settings. One method mentioned is to turn off the "Find my iPhone" option, and in its settings page there's a choice to "Enable Offline Finding". The description under that option specifically makes mention of AirTags. The video has since been removed from public view, but not before a screenshot was taken.
AirTags is a new Bluetooth accessory supposedly designed to aid in finding items such as wallets and keys using the "Find My" app. It reportedly works by being attached to these items and its tracking capability is said to be similar to that of Tile.
There's no word, though, on when Apple will officially unveil this product. However, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently predicted that AirTags will be one of the products the tech giant plans to launch in the first half of this year along with the rumored iPhone 9 or SE 2.
