Samsung pulls latest Galaxy S20 Ultra update following user complaints
#1
Information
Quote:Samsung has pulled the latest 'ATCT' firmware update for the Galaxy S20 Ultra due to a number of complaints from users after updating their device. The update introduced a green tint on the display when the 120Hz mode was enabled and slowed down the super fast wired charging speeds. For now, Samsung has only pulled the firmware update for the Galaxy S20 Ultra, with the update still being available for the Galaxy S20 and the S20+.

Samsung has rolled out a number of updates for its entire Galaxy S20 series since its launch to fix a number of issues with them. The Galaxy S20 Ultra's 108MP camera setup, in particular, suffers from autofocus issues and Samsung has rolled out multiple updates to help improve things.

At the moment, it is not exactly clear if Samsung pulled the S20 Ultra update down following user complaints or if there are other issues. The update was out for over a week in most parts of the world and the change-log claimed that it brought further improvements to the camera's HDR processing algorithm. Whatever the case might be, this is certainly not the experience that most users were looking forward to after spending $1,400+ on a smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra getting another update to fix green tint display issue
Quote:Samsung has started rolling out a new software update for the Galaxy S20 Ultra to fix the green tint issue with its display which cropped up after the last update which eventually led the company to pull it down.

For now, the 'ATD3' update is only available for the Galaxy S20 series in Germany, though a wider rollout should happen in the next few days. The ATCT update also slowed down the super-fast charging speeds on the Galaxy S20 series and it is currently not yet known if Samsung has fixed that issue with this update or not.

The folks over at SamMobile confirmed that the update has fixed the green tint issue, though it does not seem to bring any other improvements. The Galaxy S20 series is riddled with issues including poor autofocus speed, sub-par camera performance, overheating issues on the Exynos 990 model, GPS issues, and more. While Samsung has rolled out multiple updates to fix some of these issues, there's still a lot of work that needs to be done by the company in this regard.

If you own a Samsung Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, or the Galaxy S20 Ultra, you can go to Settings -> Software Update to check if the update is available in your region or not.
