The new CPUs were launched on 1st April according to AMD.
AMD has updated its website just as the new desktop CPUs became available. According to the company, the Ryzen 8000F series was launched on April 1st, but there wasn’t much news coming from AMD about this particular launch. In fact, the new SKUs were only mentioned during a special event in China, but at the time, AMD made no comments on the specs, pricing, and release date.
Today, we know that the new SKUs are indeed based on Phoenix/Hawk Point silicon and are essentially the G-variants without integrated graphics support. So, yes, these chips lack one of the most important features of this silicon: the efficient RDNA3 integrated graphics. However, instead, one is given a lower price and access to the latest Zen4 architecture.
According to AMD, both Ryzen 7 8700F and Ryzen 5 8400F will be available globally, so they won’t be limited to China as rumored. However, according to reports, both SKUs will only be available to OEM partners (and likely system integrators). This doesn’t mean they won’t come to the retail market, but it means they have no official MSRP, and their availability will depend on how quickly these companies start selling them on trays to retailers (which is almost certainly going to happen).
