Intel Arrow Lake-S won’t get a refresh

The next product in line is Nova Lake.

According to a leak from Chiphell user “panzerlied,” there are no plans for an Arrow Lake-S Refresh next year. This refresh was rumored to focus primarily on improvements to the built-in NPU (Neural Processing Unit), bringing higher performance while leaving other aspects like configurations and clock speeds largely unchanged. The NPU was expected to be the same as in Intel’s upcoming Lunar Lake chips, specifically the Core Ultra 200V series.

With the cancellation of the Arrow Lake-S Refresh, Intel’s roadmap for desktop CPUs appears thin, leaving no major architectural updates in the near future.

There’s no word yet on a possible Core Ultra 300 series, but if Intel sticks to its current plans, the next most important architecture for desktop processors will likely be Nova Lake.

With the cancellation of the Arrow Lake-S Refresh, there’s reason to believe that Intel might shift focus to accelerating the release of Nova Lake, which is set to feature the new Panther Cove and Arctic Wolf cores. Currently, Nova Lake is slated to launch in 2026 and is expected to be the first major architectural overhaul for desktops in several years.

Intel Client CPU Architectures:
  • ✅2021: Alder Lake Mobile Desktop
  • ✅2022: Raptor Lake Mobile Desktop
  • ✅2023: Meteor Lake Mobile
  • ✅2023: Raptor Lake Refresh Mobile Desktop
  • ⌛2024: Lunar Lake Premium Mobile
  • ⌛2024: Arrow Lake Mobile Desktop
  • ?2025: Panther Lake Premium Mobile
  • ❌2025: Arrow Lake Refresh Mobile Desktop
  • ?2026+: Nova Lake Mobile Desktop
Worth noting that Panzerlied only speaks about Arrow Lake-S, not H or HX variants. There is still a possibility that Refresh will show up on laptops.

In the meantime, Intel has Lunar Lake and Panther Lake for laptops in development. However, as things currently stand, at least two products for the LGA-1851 socket have been canceled. This is because the new socket was supposed to debut alongside Meteor Lake-S, which was never released for desktops—only for laptops, mini-PCs, and embedded systems.
