Some may still remember Instinct as a sub-brand of Radeon GPUs, but much has changed over the last few years, and these products no longer have much in common with traditional graphics solutions. The new Instinct series is primarily focused on AI accelerators, though they can still be considered general-purpose compute solutions.
The MI325X is part of AMD’s new CDNA3 family. It’s a large “GPU” that, unlike the MI300A, does not feature any CPU cores. AMD has confirmed that there are no plans for an MI300A successor, so for now, there is no next-gen exascale APU like the MI300A. Meanwhile, AMD is making some changes to the MI325X specs, such as new memory specifications.

The MI325X was AMD’s first product to feature HBM3e memory. Contrary to previous announcements, it will not feature 288GB of memory. AMD encountered issues securing 36GB HBM stacks for this product, so they are relying on 32GB stacks instead. This means the full specs will now include 256GB, divided into eight HBM stacks. Otherwise, the memory specs have not changed, and this memory will still offer 6 TB/s of bandwidth. The MI325X will require up to 1000W TDP.
