Intel discloses Lunar Lake details at closed meeting

Intel recently shared details about its new Efficient core, codenamed Skymont, in a closed meeting with media and analysts ahead of Computex. Despite the confidential nature of the presentation, some images were leaked by an attendee and subsequently circulated on Weibo and were later reposted by HXL on X (formerly Twitter).

While the leaked low-resolution images do not provide complete information, they confirm that Skymont boasts a “double-digit” IPC (Instructions Per Clock) gain over its predecessor, Crestmont. Crestmont cores, currently featured in the Core Ultra 100 series (Meteor Lake), are set to be succeeded by Skymont in the Core Ultra 200 series, which includes the Lunar Lake (low-power mobile) and Arrow Lake (mainstream laptop and desktop) products.

Although the exact IPC improvement figure remains undisclosed, the double-digit increase surpasses the relatively small 4% IPC gain seen from Gracemont (Alder/Raptor Lake) to Crestmont. This performance boost is attributed to advancements in the winder Decode unit and the inclusion of 8-wide integer ALUs, double the number in the previous generation.
