Quote:Google has released Chrome 74 for all supported platforms, and one of the biggest changes included in this version is the addition of a new dark theme for Windows 10.
Beginning with Chrome 74, Google’s browser can adapt to the visual system settings on Windows 10.
In other words, Google Chrome can automatically toggle from the light mode to dark according to the active theme in Windows 10. For example, if you’re using a dark mode in Windows 10, Google Chrome switches to dark too, whereas toggling to light mode enables the standard UI in the browser too.
This behavior was first introduced in Google Chrome 73 for macOS, so with Chrome 74, the same feature lands on Microsoft’s Windows 10 as well.
What’s important to know, however, is that this is a staged rollout, so not all users are getting it after installing Chrome 74. According to Google itself, the feature is currently available for a small number of Chrome 74 users, but it should go live for all Windows 10 users shortly.
“Hey everyone, thanks for taking the time to reach out, and for your enthusiasm! I can confirm that we are rolling out this feature to a small number of Chrome M74 users now, and that it will become more widely available in the near future,” Google Community Manager Craig explained today.
