NVIDIA has supposedly been working on enabling High Dynamic Range (HDR) automatically to all games using Standard Definition Range (SDR). This was discovered by modding community has already been released as a software enabling this functionality.

The RTX Video HDR is NVIDIA’s new technology, allowing users with GeForce RTX graphics to convert any SDR video content into HDR. Naturally, this technique will never be as good as true HDR implementation and there are certain hardware limitations to even have this feature working (RTX GPUs and monitors with true HDR support). Yet, this allows the group of users to experience content in a new form.

NVIDIA thus far hidden feature appears to replace Window’s built-in AutoHDR mode. This technology is designed to improve color range and blitheness in SDR games, primarily older DirectX11/12 games that were never designed to support HDR. NVIDIA’s HDR feature, supposedly, is powered by Tensor cores, which means that enabling this feature will take a performance hit.
