Quote:AdGuard for Android 4.6.4If this release were a UFC fighter, it would go by the name “The Bugfixer” because it is all about squashing bugs. Let’s break down what we’ve accomplished here.

DNS bugWe’ve tackled a particularly eye-twitching bug that caused DNS — and, as a result, the Internet — to randomly fail when switching networks. It took some detective work on our part since the issue was unpredictable and only impacted a small number of users. But hey, no one should be left without DNS protection!

Battery drain bugAnother irritating bug we discovered during beta testing: incorrect statistics calculations were leading to excessive battery drain. The system code was unable to calculate the date necessary for accurate statistics below a certain value. Thankfully, we’ve managed to work around this odd behavior in the system code, and now the stats are calculated correctly. They also now load faster and take up less RAM.

This issue seemed to affect users on specific versions of Android. If you were using the nightly or beta version of AdGuard and ran into this problem, we recommend updating to the stable release.

Other fixesA number of bug fixes and improvements come with the latest version of the CoreLibs, along with improved filtering quality — you can see the details in the changelog below.

Quote:AdGuard VPN for Windows 2.4.1

Speed and application stability are not the only things about this update. In AdGuard VPN v2.4.1 for Windows, we have moved the authorization process to a single window in your browser. Now, simply click Log in or create an account, and you’ll be automatically taken to a browser page where you can log in to the app and to your AdGuard account.

Important: this is the last release to support Windows 7.

We use several libraries for our work, the latest versions of which no longer support Windows 7. And the latest versions are necessary — both for user safety and for the overall functionality of the app.

If upgrading to a newer version of Windows isn’t possible, please stick with version 2.4.1.

The new login process may not be so convenient at first, but here are the benefits of it:
  • It makes it easier for us to maintain the service, and it is a key to reducing issues, allowing us to identify and resolve problems faster and more efficiently.
  • Now you can use the password manager and enable autocomplete in your browser to make the login process faster.
  • We’ve added the Use one-time code instead option. If you don’t want to use your password or you forgot it, we will email you a temporary code to log in to the app. Stay private and safe.

This release is part of a series of AdGuard updates focused on web login. Now, if you need to log in to AdGuard VPN for Mac, you’ll be redirected to your browser where you can log in to the app and to your AdGuard account.

We understand this might feel unfamiliar at first, but here are the benefits of it:
  • It makes it easier for us to maintain the service, and it is a key to reducing issues, allowing us to identify and resolve problems faster and more efficiently.
  • Now you can use the password manager and enable autocomplete in your browser to make the login process faster.
  • We’ve added the Use one-time code instead option. If you don’t want to use your password or you forgot it, we will email you a temporary code to log in to the app. It’s just as secure, but without the need to remember anything.
