Quote:A few days ago, Microsoft revealed that Windows 11's Snipping Tool is getting an AI feature to capture perfect screenshots. It appears that another new feature is being tested in the app, Snipping Tool will soon allow you to create animated GIFs from screen recordings.

The screenshot tool already has the capability to record the screen and save it to an MP4 video. But video files are quite larger in size compared to GIFs, which are significantly smaller, and hence are easier to share via email or instant messaging.

The upcoming feature was spotted by PhantomOfEarth, a reliable Windows leaker, who shared a demo of Snipping Tool's new GIF creation option. Users can start the recording process by clicking on the GIF icon in the top right corner of Snipping Tool's UI. Or, you could trigger the action with the keyboard shortcut, Ctrl + G. You can edit the animated media after the recording has been completed. The GIF creator allows you to choose between low and high-quality GIFs, which offers flexibility for various use cases. Low-quality GIFs are smaller in file size, and can be exported or copied quickly. Higher quality images provide a clearer image, which can be useful for professional presentations, or videos.
