Huawei’s Nightmare Could Come to an End in Just Two Weeks
#1
Quote:US companies could be allowed to do business with Huawei in just two weeks, according to a report from Reuters citing an industry official.

The Chinese tech giant was blacklisted in mid-May, essentially being blocked from working with American firms and using their products, including here operating systems like Android and Windows.

Earlier this month, however, the United States Department of Commerce started to allow local companies to request licenses in order to sell products to Huawei.

While at that point no specifics were provided on when these licenses could be granted, a senior US official now tells Reuters that the government could approve the first set in approximately two weeks.

These licenses would only get the go-ahead if they don’t represent a threat to national security, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said, albeit at this point the companies that requested approval to work with Huawei are yet to be disclosed.
