Macrium Reflect X: Pushing the Boundaries of Backup Speed and Reliability

Macrium Reflect X vs Reflect 8: Speed and Resumable Imaging Test

The video above is provided by Macrium to show comparison between Reflect 8 and Reflect X.
Quote:In this video, we put Macrium's upcoming Reflect X to the test against its predecessor, Reflect 8. Watch as Reflect X creates a system image in just 1 minute and 29 seconds, a groundbreaking improvement over Reflect 8's time of 8 minutes and 10 seconds.

Reflect X achieves this remarkable performance through revolutionary compression and backup optimization techniques. While these results are from controlled internal tests and real-world outcomes may vary depending on storage scenarios, they clearly demonstrate the significant enhancements in speed and efficiency that Reflect X brings to the table.

But it's not just about speed. Reflect X also introduces advanced resumability features, ensuring that even if a backup is interrupted, it can be seamlessly resumed without data loss or having to start over. This is a game-changer for businesses looking to minimize downtime and protect critical data.

Macrium Reflect X: What It Means for Recent and New Reflect 8 Customers

With Macrium Reflect X on the horizon, you might be wondering what this means if you've recently purchased Reflect 8 or are thinking about buying it now. Good news – we've got options to ensure you can confidently invest in your data protection today and still benefit from our latest technology when it launches.

Here's what you need to know about home user options:

For Home Customers

  • I just purchased Reflect 8 and didn't know there would be a new release.

    Firstly, if you want to continue using Macrium Reflect 8, you can (whether you have an annual plan or a one-time license). However, you also have options:

  • I purchased an annual plan

    One advantage of the annual plan is that you can always access the latest version. You can upgrade anytime during your active subscription or remain on Reflect 8. Support will continue for the product's life (we will continue to provide technical support for Reflect 8 until further notice, with system-critical updates and fixes guaranteed for one year after the release of Reflect X).

  • I purchased a one-time license

    If you purchased on or after July 1st, 2024, you have two options;

    • Continue using Reflect 8 for as long as you want. You will continue to have access to 12 months technical support from the date you bought the licenses.

    • Trade in (your existing license will be deactivated after your new license is activated) your one-time license (which has one year support from the date of purchase) and receive a 3-year Annual Plan at no extra cost. Macrium may make loyalty offers available at the end of your 3-year term. However, even without a license, Reflect always allows you to restore/recover your data (you won’t be able to make new backups). We’ve also made your backup files open-source - it’s your data and you own it.

    Note: Home users have 6 months from the launch of Reflect X to decide which option suits them best. See more info below.
