Following the launch of the GeForce RTX 5090 and 5080, NVIDIA is also releasing the new Game Ready 572.16 drivers, which not only support the new cards but also introduce an important update to how DLSS technology works.
The most significant update is DLSS 4 support, a new version of NVIDIA’s performance-boosting technology that can now generate up to three additional frames compared to the first-generation Frame Generation. This feature is currently exclusive to the RTX 50 series, and NVIDIA has no official plans to bring it to older architectures.
Additionally, NVIDIA is introducing Smooth Motion, a driver-based AI technology that improves gameplay smoothness by generating an extra inferred frame between two rendered frames. While similar to Frame Generation, it also works in games that do not support that feature. However, Smooth Motion is exclusive to the RTX 50 series.
