Overview

Revo Uninstaller Pro is an advanced and innovative uninstaller program which helps the user to uninstall unnecessary software and remove easily unwanted programs installed on the user's  personal computer. Revo Uninstaller gives the user the convenience to optimize his device, as well as get rid of all the program files he does not need which slows down the his  computer processes. The user might be surprised to learn that the "Add/Remove Programs" option in the Windows Control Panel does not always completely remove all software data from his system. Traces like registry items or program files and folders may still remain. Most programs come with their own uninstallers, but in most cases, these don't do complete the job thoroughly, leaving behind temporary files, leftovers, unused registry entries, and other unnecessary program files. These remnants take up space and slow down the user's system, and can cause conflicts during upgrade to a newer version of the same software in the future. With its advanced and fast algorithms, Revo Uninstaller Pro analyzes the application's data before uninstallation, and scans the user's computer for leftovers (after the built-in uninstaller of the program finishes). After the program's regular uninstaller runs, the user can remove additional unnecessary files, folders and Registry entries, usually left over by a program. Even if the user has a broken or corrupt program installation, Revo Uninstaller Pro can scan your hard disk drives and Windows Registry, and show all files, folders and Registry entries found, so the user can delete them easily/safely.

Even if you have a broken (corrupt) installation of an application, Revo Uninstaller Pro can scan your hard disk drives and Windows Registry, and show all files, folders and Registry entries found, so you can delete them easily. Now with Revo Uninstaller the user can be sure that he can clean his system from all these remnants thus providing more comfort and optimization to his device and computing life.

User Interface

Revo  Uninstaller  Pro’s interface is basically divided into user components that will help the user effectively. The left portion of the main window will show the "Components Panel" which is divided into two (2) groups: (a) Uninstaller, and (b) Tools. Each group has its own tools/components depending on the user's needs.

Uninstaller group has six (6) modules:

(1) All Programs
(2) Traced Programs
(3) Windows Apps
(4) Browser Extensions
(5) Logs Database
(6) Hunter Mode

Tools group has six (7) modules:

(1) Autorun Manager
(2) Junk Files Cleaner
(3) Windows Tools
(4) History Cleaner
(5) Evidence Remover
(6) Unrecoverable Delete
(7) Backup Manager

(1) All Programs
As the user starts Revo Uninstaller Pro, the main window displays all installed programs on the computer. The default view displayed is the "Details view."

The user can right click on the column header to sort, and from there he can show or hide some of the columns. Let it be note that "printing" works only in Details view, which is why it is better to setup printing in landscape mode, as that would contain much more information. By default, Revo Uninstaller Pro displays programs in in two (2) groups: (a) New Programs, and (b) Other Programs. The user can assign each program to a group by using the context menu when right clicking on a program. Removing a program from a group is also possible from the same context menu. The default groups are Internet, Games, Multimedia and Utilities. The user can add groups as desired via Options > Groups manager > Add.

Revo Uninstaller Pro has a very powerful feature called "Forced Uninstall".  It will remove leftovers of programs that are already uninstalled, incomplete installations, and remnants of programs. It does not matter if the program the user want to remove is not listed in the "Programs and Features" or “Apps and features” applets. Forced Uninstall is the best solution when the user have to remove partially installed or uninstalled programs, and programs not listed as installed at all.

Uninstall Options (Uninstaller > All Programs)

Uninstall
The use can select a desired program he wants to uninstall (or a group of programs). This will bring out the "Uninstallation Wizard". Revo Uninstaller Pro will silently try to find a matching trace log or logs of the program the user are uninstalling "first". It searches among the logs the user have traced or imported, and the logs in the Logs Database. If there is more than one log related to the program the user are uninstalling, or the user have a log for a previous, the user will see a window asking if the user wants to use the found log(s) during the uninstallation procedure. If there is an appropriate log and Revo Uninstaller Pro is going to use it, the user will be notified on the second step of the Uninstallation Wizard, during the initial data analysis.

After the Uninstallation Wizard is displayed, Revo Uninstaller Pro tries to create a full Registry backup (if not disabled in the Options) and a System Restore Point, and then runs the built-in uninstaller of the program the user are uninstalling. When the uninstallation with the built-in uninstaller is finished, he can click "Scan" to continue the uninstallation process with Revo Uninstaller Pro.  The user can choose from the following the leftover scanning modes: (1) Safe, (2) Moderate, and (3) Advanced . The user can simply check an entire parent branch, as that will automatically select all of its children via "Select All". Thus eliminating the need to check each individual leftover item manually and separately.

Another way to uninstall a program, or a few programs at once, is via "Quick Uninstall". The Quick Uninstall is similar to the normal uninstallation process in that it will open a window, and start the uninstallation of the selected program(s). The differences from the normal installation are:

(a) Quick Uninstall will try to run a silent uninstallation of the selected program. A "silent uninstallation" would mean that the user would not see any prompts or even a progress indicator of the built-in uninstaller. The user would only see a notification after the built-in uninstaller has done its job.

(b) Quick Uninstall will not show any leftover lists . It will scan for leftovers as usual but instead of prompting the user to select which ones to delete, Revo Uninstaller Pro will delete them automatically.

After the deletion, Revo Uninstaller Pro will continue with running the built-in uninstaller of the next selected program. By default, all deleted Registry entries are backed up, and any deleted leftover files and folders are moved to the Recycle Bin.

(2) Traced Programs
This module shows all installation logs traced with Revo Uninstaller Pro. To trace a program with Revo Uninstaller Pro the user can right click on its installation (setup) file, and select "Install with Revo Uninstaller Pro", or click the Install Program with Revo  Uninstaller  Pro  button  on  the  "Commands  Panel"  while "All  Programs"  or  "Traced Programs" modules are opened.

When you install a program through Revo Uninstaller Pro, it creates a log file. These log files are saved to a default folder, which can be changed if needed. The Logs Folder: field shows the current path to the logs; it can be changed to a different folder by typing the path manually, or by clicking the Browse button, and selecting the new folder.

  • Delete traced program log after uninstall – if the option is enabled, after a program is uninstalled using a log file via the Uninstall command (not the Custom Uninstall command), the log file used is deleted.

  • Trace programs in compact mode – by default, when tracing a program installation, the trace bar is located at the top of the screen and runs across the entire screen. Enabling this option switches to a smaller, floating trace bar that is on top of all other windows. The user is advised to use this if he does not like the default behavior.

(3) Windows Apps
Revo Uninstaller Pro makes it easy to uninstall "Windows Apps" that come pre-installed with the latest versions of Windows, or are afterwards installed by the user from the  Microsoft  Store,  where  the user  have  access  to  tens  of  thousands  of  apps.  As with the uninstallation of a program, Revo Uninstaller Pro searches for leftover files, folders, and Registry entries, and allows the user to delete them.

(4) Browser Extensions
Some programs mislead the user to install unwanted browsers extensions, or in most cases do it silently.  These  browser  extensions  change  the user's  browser  settings  without  the user's approval,  thus  they compromise  the user's  browsing  experience.  This module lists and helps the user remove/delete different kinds of extensions (also called add-ons), which popular browsers install for additional customization. Browser extensions are shown in groups, based on the browser. Currently, supported are: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Internet Explorer, and Microsoft Edge.

(5) Logs Database
This is a database of logs of "Traced Programs" from the monitoring module of Revo Uninstaller Pro. It is a "log list" of traced programs that is compatible with the user's version of Windows. The Logs Database is created and maintained by Revo Uninstaller Pro's team. The logs are stored on Revo's web server, and the user can use them to uninstall programs or to remove leftovers of previously uninstalled program. Using a log from the Logs Database is the same as if the user has made the log and traced the program by himself.

Thus the user has an advantage when installing Revo Uninstaller Pro on a computer that has existing installed programs for he has all the possibility for better and complete uninstallation using the trace logs from the Logs Database.  The user only has to search for the program the user want to uninstall, and select click "Uninstall".  When the user open the Logs Database, (by default) the user will see a list of logs compatible with his version of Windows. The number on the left side of the status bar indicates how many programs are listed based on the current filter settings and search terms entered. The number on the right side of the status bar indicates the total number of logs in the Logs Database. The database is updated automatically by Revo Uninstaller Pro's team.

(6) Hunter mode
Hunter mode is an innovative and flexible feature of Revo Uninstaller Pro, which gives the user the ability to uninstall, stop, or delete simply by pointing to application icons on the Desktop or system tray, or opened application windows. This can be very useful because many applications loading on start-up and/or remain in the system tray without the user's consent, or the user does not even know which application that is. When the user click the button, the Revo Uninstaller Pro’s window will disappear, and a small blue target icon with a crosshair will appear at the upper right corner of the user's screen. Hunter mode is now activated. Right clicking the target icon brings a context menu with the following options:

  • Open main window (exits Hunter mode, and re-opens Revo Uninstaller Pro’s main window)

  • Auto Start with Windows (sets Hunter Mode to start automatically with Windows)

  • Window's size (allows the user to change the size of the target icon to small, medium or large)

  • Transparency (set transparency level)

  • Help (opens Revo Uninstaller Pro’s help file)

  • Exit (exit application)

To operate in Hunter mode you simply need to drag and drop the target icon over the icon or window of the program you want to manage.

  • Press and hold the left mouse button over the target icon.

  • Move the target icon with the mouse over an item supported by the Hunter mode (a Desktop shortcut, an icon in the system tray, opened window, etc.). While doing so, a tooltip is shown with information about the application you would select if you released the button.

  • After moving the icon over the desired item, release the left mouse button and a menu will appear.

  • Select a desired command from that menu: (i) Uninstall (Forced Uninstall), (ii) Stop Auto Starting (disables Windows auto-start),  (iii) Kill (force stop/close app), (iv) Kill and Delete (force stop deletes app), (v) Open Containing Folder (opens folder location of app), (vi) Search at Google for (search online via Google), (g) Properties (shows apps file properties), and (vii) Cancel (cancel operation)

Tools Group

(1) Autorun Manager
Revo Uninstaller Pro's "Autorun Manager" gives the user control over the startup process of the user's operating system by selecting which processes, services, and scheduled tasks are allowed to start with Windows. With this tool, the user can not only enable or disable applications from automatically starting, but also get more information about them, like publisher, description, launch path, and whether it is currently running.  As the user keep installing new software, some of it will set itself to start with the user's computer. They can be viewed in the system tray (near the clock in Taskbar) as small icons. Often such applications are messengers, adware, optimizers, and other applications the user do not need to start automatically. The user can enable/disable what he desires via this module.

(2) Junk Files Cleaner
The Junk Files Cleaner allows the user to find and remove various types of junk and unnecessary files from his computer. Normally, such files are deleted by the application that had created them as soon they become unnecessary. But these days most programs let some remain in the user's hard drive sometimes when a certain program that created them was terminated unexpectedly, or it was not programed to delete said files, or say a system crash, etc. These files that accumulate over time may impact system performance. Revo Uninstaller Pro's "Junk Files Cleaner" allows the user to select which drives to scan, and what extension of files to scan for. It is also possible to manually add a specific folders (in the Options -> Junk Files Cleaner -> Include), whose content will be considered junk and will be emptied at every scan.

(3) Windows Tools
The Windows Tools section in Revo Uninstaller Pro gives the user a fast – one-click access to more than ten Windows tools, which he can use in his maintenance routine. These are the useful tools and components bundled with every Windows operating system ranging from some that have complex command line options to others which are difficult to access.

(4) History Cleaner
Revo Uninstaller Pro's "History Cleaner" tool combines three other cleaning tools: (1) Browsers Cleaner, (2) Windows Cleaner, and (3) Microsoft Office Cleaner. Each of them is accessible from a tab located on the top of the main window of the History Cleaner. They can be used separately using the "Clear" button when a cleaner is active, or the history of all cleaners can be cleared at once if the user clicks the "Clear All" button.

(1) Browsers Cleaner
Each browser makes a detailed record of every web site the user have ever visited. Revo Uninstaller Pro erases web site history of the following web browsers: (1) Microsoft Edge, (2) Internet Explorer, (3) Firefox, (4) Google Chrome, and (5) Opera. With the Browsers Cleaner, the user can also delete temporary Internet files, which include images, videos, audio files, etc., all the web pages the user have visited. Deleting temporary Internet files will also free a disk space on the user's hard disk.

(2) Windows Cleaner
Microsoft Windows keeps tracks of many things the user do, like file search history when the user searches for files and folders; recently opened document history; open/save history used in standard open/save dialogs; start menu clicks history; last opened Registry key history, and more. History Cleaner's "Windows Cleaner" allows the user to remove all of this history and temporary files quickly and easily. The user can also empty his Recycle Bin, and delete temporary files, freeing more disk space.

(3) Microsoft Office Cleaner
Allows the user to remove history of most recently used files in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. If the user does not want somebody else to see his last opened or edited documents, spreadsheets, or other files created using Microsoft Office, he only needs to select those, and click the "Clear" or "Clear All".  The user's most recently used files will no longer be listed.

(5) Evidence Remover
Deleting the user's files and folders does not mean that they are gone forever. When the user empty the Recycle Bin, the user's files and folders are just marked as deleted but they are not physically erased. The user can easily get back the user's important documents and other files that he has deleted using any recovery tool or un-delete program.

Revo Uninstaller Pro's "Evidence Remover" will eliminate all chances to get data back from the user's hard drive(s). It will forever erase files and folders that are already deleted, but left physically on the user's hard disk. No matter what tool the user or somebody else uses to recover data, including professional and expensive recovery tools, the result will always be the same — the data erased with Evidence Remover is impossible to recover.

(6) Unrecoverable Delete
Revo Uninstaller Pro's "Unrecoverable Delete" allows the user to securely delete a file or folder, and to be sure that no one, with any tool, could be able to recover that file or folder. Deleting files and emptying Windows Recycle Bin does not mean they are gone forever. They are still on the user’s hard drive, but marked as deleted. Anyone with a file recovery tool (free or commercial), could recover deleted data easily. With "Unrecoverable Delete" tool it is impossible, even if the user tries to do that with the most advanced and expensive tool on the market. Deleting files in Windows means that they are marked as deleted, and the space they allocated up until that point is free to use. This is because if Windows has to physically erase all deleted files, it will take time and will slow down the user’s computer. There is also a lot of system, temporary, and other files which are unimportant so making them unrecoverable would be waste of resources. Unrecoverable Delete physically erases all files and folders that the user choose, which is why it takes more time than simple deletion.

(7) Backup Manager
Revo Uninstaller Pro has a multi-level backup system. The Backup Manager is the main part of that system. It helps the user manage backup information stored by Revo Uninstaller Pro, such as deleted Registry entries, files, and folders. When restoring backed up items, the user can restore all of the deleted data, or he can select which individual items he needs. If the user needs to free up disk space, he can any and all backed up data. The other levels of the backup system are:

  • Creating a System Restore Point before each uninstallation
  • Full Registry backup before each uninstallation
  • Full Registry backup once a day, if Revo Uninstaller Pro is started.

Latest version is Revo Uninstaller Pro ver 4.4.5 (25-May-2021)

"What uninstaller program/s have you used (please state program/s used) and what features of Revo Uninstaller Pro convinces you that it is the better choice?"
I have used Revo Uninstaller, Geek Uninstaller, Advance Uninstaller, Iobit Unisntaller.  I think Revo Uninstaller feature of  having 3 modes of scanning for leftovers is not there in other apps which is very convenient for the user as he can decide on the basis of his needs the scan method to use. I also like Revo uninstaller force uninstall which helped me to remove office 365 with help of forced removal feature after its install encountered an error and my office pro plus became dysfunctional.
I  like its file cleaner capabilities in addition to only removal of apps and browser plugins and windows apps and it has not failed me ever and has not made my PC have any issues after removing apps.

Revo Uninstaller is my first uninstaller and I never used any other uninstaller software programs in the past except the Windows built-in uninstaller. Because I'm really very satisfied with its powerful features like complete uninstall of any programs. Other feature it can do is to remove junk and left over files after uninstalling a program. It also removes stubborn programs which are really so annoying that other uninstaller can't do so. Thank you to VS Revo Group for sponsoring this contest and to Jason for arranging this great giveaway contest. So please count my name in and really hope to win.

"What uninstaller program/s have you used (please state program/s used) and what features of Revo Uninstaller Pro convinces you that it is the better choice?"I have in the past used Revo Uninstaller  and built –in Windows uninstaller.
Revo Uninstaller Pro acts as both a replacement and a supplement to the built-in functionality in Windows by first running the built-in uninstaller for the program, and then scanning for leftover data afterwards, making it best choice when it comes to completely removing stubborn programs, temporary files, and other unnecessary program data that is left behind after the standard uninstall process
Revo Uninstaller Pro has a good feature-  AutoRun Manager. While keeping startup safe, I can remove any programs that are slowing down start up time. The great thing is it makes sure to show precisely how these programs are affecting the PC.
Another great feature is Traced programs : After install Revo Uninstaller Pro on the computer, it begins to monitor every new program that is installed. It takes logs of what they do so that it understands their effect on the system. The app also records the installation experience. By doing this, Uninstaller is already prepared to delete every leftover trace of the program. When the time comes to clean up the app or remove the root files, Revo Pro can easily destroy it. Thanks for this contest V S Revo Group!
My install cannot be updated now because I am using old version 4 so I join here.

"What uninstaller program/s have you used (please state program/s used) and what features of Revo Uninstaller Pro convinces you that it is the better choice?"

I was using an old Revo Uninstaller Pro version 4 from last year and now I cannot update to the latest version. I have always used Revo Uninstaller Pro way back version 3. It has always stayed with me as one of my trusted programs I never do without. The "Hunter mode" and the "Forced Uninstall" is and always be my favorite features and I always used them always. The addition of the "Junk files cleaner" and "Unrecoverable Delete" is also a nice touch. Happy Birthday Revo Uninstaller and thank you!

"What uninstaller program/s have you used (please state program/s used) and what features of Revo Uninstaller Pro convinces you that it is the better choice?"

I have used UninstallTool and the built-in windows uninstaller, but Revo Uninstaller provides more uninstall modes than other similar applications. In addition, the unique uninstall function of Revo Uninstaller has given me a deep impression. which not only quickly uninstalls the application and completely remove all data associated with it from your system, but also restores the application if you creat a system restore point or full registry backup before uninstallation. Based on this,I like Revo Uninstaller. Thank you.

"What uninstaller program/s have you used (please state program/s used) and what features of Revo Uninstaller Pro convinces you that it is the better choice?"

I am currently using Revo Uninstaller Pro 3.
Previously, I used DoYourData Uninstaller, Ashampoo Uninstaller, Smarty Uninstaller, IObit Uninstaller and many other programs.
But my choice stopped at Revo Uninstaller.
I want to upgrade to a newer version of Revo Uninstaller Pro 4 as it is a further development of the Revo Uninstaller line with improved functionality.
Revo Uninstaller Pro easily removes programs and unwanted applications and includes advanced features for uninstalling programs and cleaning their traces.
The main advantages of Revo Uninstaller Pro are:
- Solving problems of installing and updating programs;
- The presence of the functions "Tracked programs", "Hunter mode" and "Forced uninstall".
- Quick removal of one or more applications at the same time;
- Cleaning of confidential data;
- Clearing the browser history.
These and other solutions implemented in Revo Uninstaller Pro 4 give reason to believe that this is the best program for uninstalling applications.

Thanks for this contest VS Revo Group!

I have been using Revo Uninstaller Pro for some years and it's the best uninstaller made. This is why I really need a reliable program to remove left over files once uninstallation of the software no longer is needed.

Thanks a lot for the giveaway @JasonX and to Revo representatives for supporting it.

Recently i used Ashampoo Uninstaller and Revo Uninstaller Pro and in Revo the most i like the continue uninstall process after reboot. Also, I like the fact we can choose the way to uninstall software and the portability of Revo.

I already follow them on social media.
