AMD confirms Strix Point RDNA3.5 is 32% faster than RDNA3 in Hawk Point at 15W in 3DMark TimeSpy

Finally, AMD is revealing new performance estimates for Ryzen AI 300 GPU. 



Official benchmark scores are now available, revealing AMD’s performance in 3DMark TimeSpy and Night Raid benchmarks with Radeon 800M and Radeon 700M graphics.

AMD’s Ryzen AI 300 series, codenamed “Strix Point,” is set to launch later this month. Aside from upgrades to Zen5 CPUs and XDNA2 NPUs, the third significant feature is the introduction of the new RDNA3.5 graphics architecture. The company has detailed the focus and goals of this new architecture.

AMD RDNA 3.5 is an optimized version of RDNA3 aimed at improving power-performance efficiency. It enhances performance per watt for common graphics shader operations and improves performance per bit operations by reducing memory access requirements. Additionally, it is designed to deliver better battery life.

In greater detail, AMD RDNA3.5 has:

• 2x Texture Sampler Rate: Subset of the most common texture sampling operations are now double rate for common game texture ops
  
• 2x Interpolation and Comparison Rates: Most of the rich vector ISA for interpolation and comparison is now double rate for common Ops in shaders
  
• Improved Memory Management: Improvements to primitive batch processing to reduce memory
  accesses, better compression techniques, workload reduction
  

In 3DMark TimeSpy, the Radeon 800M architecture shows a 32% performance improvement over the Radeon 700M. Similarly, in Night Raid, the RDNA3.5 graphics exhibit a 19% speed boost. AMD’s decision to disclose only these two benchmark results reflects a cautious approach, but it assures that gaming performance has been effectively addressed.
