AMD Ryzen AI Max is reportedly the name of Strix Halo series
Golden Pig Upgrade delivers another leak from AMD.
As previously noted by the same leaker, AMD might introduce another differentiator in the Ryzen naming scheme. The products, said to be part of the Max lineup, are expected to be powered by the highly anticipated Strix Halo APU.
Allegedly, AMD is working on three SKUs, featuring up to 16 Zen 5 cores and up to 40 Compute Units for graphics. This configuration is rumored to power the flagship SKU, contrary to earlier reports suggesting AMD might scrap such a variant. In fact, at least two models in the new lineup are expected to feature 40 RDNA 3.5 Compute Units.

There’s at least one variant that would use only one core chiplet, which might be an ideal solution for gaming devices. The leaked lineup doesn’t list any GPU specs below 32 CUs, which is already twice as many as Strix Point (16 CUs).

The leaker also confirms that Strix Halo can support up to 96GB of video memory, which explains why AMD is pushing the Halo for its ROCm (Open Compute Platform) integration.
Both the name and specs clearly suggest that AMD is targeting the mobile workstation segment, currently overtaken by Apple’s M-Series. Hopefully, the pricing will remain competitive, and the product will also reach the consumer segment, especially gaming systems.
