AMD’s Instinct MI400 series accelerators are slated for release in 2026. These accelerators will be based on the AMD CDNA “Next” architecture, aiming to increase performance and efficiency for AI training and inference tasks, claims AMD. Before the MI400 series, AMD plans to launch the Instinct MI350 series in the second half of 2025. These accelerators, built on the CDNA 4 architecture.
While AMD is focusing on the MI350, we have some news on the MI400. As spotted in recent patches and AMD-GFX mailing lists, it looks like the MI400 may introduce a new type of tile.

Based on current knowledge and patches, the MI400 accelerator would feature two Active Interposer Dies (AIDs), each containing four Accelerated Compute Dies (XCDs). The MI300 series featured two XCDs per AID, so the MI400 is undoubtedly a larger design.
