AVLab is an independent organization that specializes in evaluating the protection capabilities of antivirus software using tests that are designed to simulate real-world conditions. The group recently released the results of the March-April 2020 “Three Security Test” and we’re pleased to report that both Emsisoft Business Security and Emsisoft Anti-Malware were awarded the Best+++ badge!

Testing methodology

The Three Security Test is designed to measure the performance of security products across three threat categories:
  • Protection against macro-viruses.
  • Protection against ransomware samples.
  • Protection against fileless attacks.
The tests were performed manually on systems running Windows 10 Pro x64 with user account control disabled. The test environment included a range of software typically found in a business environment, including an office suite, document browser, email client and so on.

The security products were then exposed to the curated malicious samples and monitored to see not only if they could effectively detect and stop the malware, but also to gauge when in the infection process they would intervene. Badges were awarded depending on the detection capabilities of the product:
  • Best+++: at least 99% detection
  • Best++: at least 95% detection
  • Good+: at least 90% detection
Results

Both Emsisoft Business Security and Emsisoft Anti-Malware successfully detected 100 percent of the malware samples and were subsequently awarded the Best+++ badge across all three threat categories!
