Last year, Microsoft added an option to reveal the password on websites after typing in an effort to help users verify their typed passwords. The feature was handy but it posed a security risk as Microsoft does not allow users to set master passwords. Now, the company has added a setting (via Techdows) to make it harder for people to reveal passwords on Microsoft Edge. The new 'disable password reveal' option removes the 'eye icon' on websites preventing users from revealing passwords.
The feature is currently available for Microsoft Edge Canary users and can be enabled by following the steps below:
- Open Microsoft Edge Canary and click on the ellipsis icon on the top right corner
- Navigate to Settings > Profile > Passwords
- Turn off the 'Display the "Reveal password" button when entering passwords' toggle
