CheckMAL's AppCheck is a "Next-Generation Anti-Ransomware" protection tool which monitors processes for ransomware-type behavior, blocking any threat it finds and protects your system/files from ransomware. CheckMAL's Next Generation Ransomware Defense Strategy
Ransomware, where new variants appear every now and then, is always the same eventually, encrypt the file so that the user cannot access it. Context Awareness based Ransomware Behavior (CARB) detection technology is a technique to detect the encryption of a user's file to prevent it from being used. It does not focus the ransomware characteristics like existing security products, but comprehensively judges the situation of modifying the actual user's files. This also enables accurate detection without any signature updates for the new behavior of ransomware.
 

• Signature and Behavior-based Detection. In the case of ransomware detouring the detection, the context-awareness detection technique is able to defend with pure behavior without signatures since it 
  continuously monitors before and after the file is changed.
  
  
• Ransomware bypassing Network-based detection are also detected because it detects actual behavior at the end-point.
  
  
  
• In case of bypassing decoy-based detection technique and even ransomware is accidentally executed by mistake, it can detect the file tampering action by monitoring files in real-time.
  

If the blocking fails, an alternative to restore the user's files should be presented. Thus, if the Ransomware's ultimate goal of "file corruption" can be thoroughly monitored, both efficiency and effectiveness of the system can be improved.

CheckMAL's CARB engine is the key technology for judging the situation at the time of the file modification without any signature or pattern. By monitoring the change of file in real-time, accurate detection and recovery are possible. This unique feature differentiates from conventional security software that is not affected by the detection rate even in an environment where the internet is unavailable. The revolutionary CARB engine can judge the damage of the file by itself, this puts unique position while most other analysis system is replying to cloud assisted method. This is the difference that CheckMAL's AppCheck provides all users!

Note: AppCheck's Ransomware Protective Shelter is located (by default) in "C:\ProgramData\CheckMAL\AppCheck\RansomShelter"

 

Centralized Backup
AppCheck has a centralized backup/file protection component which automatically backs up files before they can be encrypted, enabling AppCheck to undo most damage. It will create a backup folder -- the Free version will create the directory "C:\Backup(AppCheck) on the C: drive and  the Paid version (AppCheck Pro) will create an additional directory "User specified folder\AutoBackup(AppCheck)" which is a "ransomware shelter" so as to ensure the backups are not encrypted when ransomware is present. AppCheck defends your files on the onset/detection of ransomware by deleting affected (ransomware encrypted) files and then restores an original from the backup that it has. With AppCheck Pro the user can assign which drive or location he prefers as the location for the Auto Backup. Automatic Backups can be scheduled and the user can also set "which and what" to backup alongside creating exceptions for his specific folders. 

 

AppCheck Cleaner
AppCheck Cleaner features system integrity scan, network environment scan, malware scan, adware scan, browser extension scan, malicious shortcut URL scan, ransomware files removal, and temporary file/folder removal features. Though multiple scanners, it removes various malicious codes, ransomware and other temporary files/folders that it deems "unnecessary" on the user's pc. 


Exploit Guard
AppCheck Exploit Guard provides proactive defense against both known and unknown(zero-day) exploits when opening a malicious website and documents. Thus, execution of any exploit from bugs and vulnerabilities in compromised applications are eliminated.

I have been a user of AppCheck Pro/Free since I won here. Migrated to free when the Pro license expired. I recently checked the webiste of CheckMAL sometime November and the contents are not updated especially the "compare features" and the downloadlink for version 3. I waited for it so I can update my free version to version 3 but it took some time before it was updated. I see that the interface has gottent bigger! Too big maybe. I'd like to win a license so I can use Pro features again! Thanks for this contest! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I like Appcheck's light footprint yet reliable and robust ransomware protection against all known and unknown rasnomware. I also like its exploit protection feature which protects vulnerable apps. Lastly, its interface has been updated which looks very clean. I would like to win a license to protect my PC against ransomware which may be missed by my main AV/IS.
