AMD confirms Ryzen 8000 AM5 desktop series will feature Zen5 CPU and Navi 3.5 GPU arc

AMD spills the beans on Ryzen 8000 AM5 series

AMD commits to the AM5 socket for Ryzen 8000 series. 



An updated roadmap featuring AMD AM5 desktop socket has been shared by the company during the recent Meet The Expert webcast. This was discovered by hardware leak detective @harukaz5719. The company has confirmed its 4-year plan to keep the socket until at least 2026.

The new roadmap lists Ryzen 8000 series featuring Zen5 and Navi 3.5 architectures. Those architectures were not officially mentioned by AMD before for one product series. According to the rumors, AMD’s next-gen APU silicon codenamed “Strix Point” is to feature either 16 or 40 CU developed with RDNA3.5 architecture. This roadmap would confirm that such products could also come to desktops.

Equally interesting is the mention of Zen4 and Navi 3.0 for Ryzen 7000 desktop. As we know, the current Ryzen 7000 lineup only features RDNA2 architecture for its integrated graphics. This implies that Navi 3.0 (aka RDNA3) will be available for AM5 socket this year. To enable Navi 3.0 for the AM5 socket, only one product comes to mind and that’s the Phoenix APU which is now being deployed for high-end laptops.


 
AMD did not confirm its plans for Ryzen 8000 before, but the company did mention it will launch the next-gen CPU core architecture in three variants: Zen5, Zen5c and Zen5 with 3D V-Cache. According to the company, this product is to utilize 4nm and 3nm nodes.
