The updated SDK brings FSR with decoupled frame generation from upscaling.
AMD has announced an update to its FidelityFX technologies SDK today, introducing support for FSR 3.1. This latest iteration aims to enhance performance with improved upscaling and frame generation options, which are now two separate processes. Game developers are encouraged to adopt frame generation features, ensuring compatibility across GPU vendors, including NVIDIA and Intel, alongside AMD.
Quote:With FSR 3.0 frame generation, we required FSR upscaling be performed earlier in the graphics pipeline. […] We now have a Frame Generation Prepare function, which takes motion vector and depth scene data pre-upscale, and it generates the required inputs required for Frame Generation. This allows Frame Generation to operate with any upscaler, including third party solutions.
— Colin Riley, AMD
The updated SDK includes new API requirements aimed at simplifying integration for developers. By using these APIs and precompiled signed DLL functions, developers can more easily incorporate and update FSR technologies into their games without requiring extensive code changes or rebuilds.
