Ashampoo GmbH & Co. KG has released last August the updated 'UnInstaller' variant, Ashampoo® UnInstaller 15 and is a successful follow-up to the last version Ashampoo® UnInstaller 14

Ashampoo UnInstaller 15 removes programs without leftovers and allows for risk-free installation, testing of any software. With up to five levels of deletion, any application is removed far more thoroughly than Windows alone could ever manage. Even programs with highly nested setups are fully logged and completely removed when necessary. The 'installation logs' contain all file and Registry modifications, completely reversing any changes upon removal. 'New application installation setups' are auto-detected from start to finish, so users rarely need to intervene. Even 'unlogged installations' can be cleanly removed using the programs' own uninstallation routines, supplemented with software database profiles and specialized methods like deep cleaning. These 'unlogged installations' are still fully removable thanks to the built-in database with hundreds of software profiles and UnInstaller's own Deep Cleaning technology which includes 'Registry' cleaning, detects and eliminates even the most hidden orphaned entries.

The built-in 'snapshot' function of Ashampoo UnInstaller 15 (Snapshots) compares two system states, highlighting differences in Registry and file structure. Batch-uninstalling multiple programs or drag and drop removal is also possible. Installed programs can also be instantly moved to a new storage location, making it easy to free up full hard drives.

The new version's central background guard now runs up to 10x faster and boasts a significantly reduced memory and CPU footprint, making the program also suitable for aging or low-end PCs. The beginning and end of installations is recognized much more reliably, as are complex installation routines. The new Privacy Traces Cleaner module reliably finds and deletes usage traces, while the deletion history built into all cleaners transparently records all operations.

  • New background guard makes all the difference!
The 'new' background installation guard' in Ashampoo UnInstaller 15 performs real-time installation analysis up to 10x faster than previous versions. It accurately detects the start and end of installations and gives better support whether it be nested or rare setup types. Experience better performance, precision, and compatibility!

  • More efficient, less resource-hungry
Ashampoo UnInstaller 15 now runs with a a significantly reduced memory and CPU footprint. Your system runs smoother while you benefit from optimized log creation and processing. More benefits are evident on older or weaker systems and the accelerated snapshot comparisons ensure you can instantly track changes between system save states.

  • 'New' Privacy Traces Cleaner and deletion history
The 'new' Privacy Traces Cleaner reliably removes all traces of your activities on your PC. The module reliably scans and cleans folders, files, and the Registry–keeping your system private and secure. Additionally, the deletion history built into all cleaners provides a comprehensive overview of all past cleaning operations. This way, you always have an overview and can ensure that nothing unwanted gets deleted or left behind on your PC.

  • Multiphasic software removal with in-depth cleaning
UnInstaller 15 takes 'uninstall' one step further! You can now optionally perform in-depth Registry scanning to detect and eliminate even the most deeply nested orphaned entries. What used to be a scan covering the most likely Registry sections can now be massively extended!

  • Use disk space more efficiently: Software relocation made super easy!
Ashampoo UnInstaller can move your applications between drives and partitions in the blink of an eye, no reinstallation, no fuss! Make room on congested drives and relocate programs to SSDs for an instant speed boost. Your applications will continue to work as before!

  • Up-to-date cleaners with added features
Our popular cleaners are part any UnInstaller worth its salt and have once again been updated. Internet Cleaner handles running browser processes with aplomb and includes a new cookie whitelist. Drive Cleanernow supports custom file filters with import and export capabilities. Empty folders can now be auto-deleted and local drives searched at incredible speeds. All modules are fully compatible with the latest versions of Windows and all popular browsers. Experience fastest and most thorough cleaners to date with UnInstaller 15!

9. Tools
These are collection of tools that help the user clean system, remove no longer needed and leftover files and defragment the hard drive(s). Note that some modules that delete files and folders will always move them to the recycle bin first with the exception of "File Wiper". This allows the user to restore files/folders in the event of malfunctions. Note that this is only applicable if the user has NOT set the recycle bin to always delete files. Registry Optimizer always creates backup. If the user experiences any issues once cleaning is finished, he can always "revert" any changes through "Backups". Categories are below.

  • Drive Cleaner

Drive Cleaner scans the user's system for no longer needed files and displays results grouped by categories. Ashampoo® UnInstaller displays the number of results for each category. User needs to "check" the check boxes to select/deselect individual results or use the top buttons to select all/no results from a category. A "Create report" can be availed to save your results as a text file. User can also make "exceptions" and specify file formats to be scanned. This can be seen in (Settings > Drive Cleaner > Exceptions and Settings > Drive Cleaner > Search drives)

  • Registry Optimizer

Registry Optimizer scans the user's Windows Registry database for no longer needed entries and displays results grouped by categories. User needs to "check" the check boxes to select/deselect individual results or use the top buttons to select all/no results from a category. A "Write a report" is there to save results as a text file. Exceptions are also allowed and user can specify an entry as an exception to exclude it from future searches. He can remove exceptions in the settings for this module. (Settings > Registry Optimizer > Exceptions). • Internet Cleaner

User can specify a scanned entry as an exception to exclude it from future searches. User can also remove exceptions in the settings for this module. This allows the user to keep settings such as login data for your webmail account from being deleted every time he uses Internet Cleaner thus eliminating the need to set it again. User can modify the list of secure cookies in the settings for this module. [Image: ep7Du7r.gif]
  • Boot Center

This module lists a summary for recorded boot times, autorun entries and tasks.

  • Service Manager

Services are background programs required by Windows and other applications to work properly. This module lists all installed services and provides a rating on their usefulness. It also allows the user to modify start types individually.

  • Undeleter

Ashampoo® UnInstaller's "Undeleter" attempts to recover accidentally deleted files. User simply needs to select a drive and click "Search". Selected files after the scan can be recovered. The search text can be used to filter or narrow down the list of results. User needs to click "Restore" to recover the selected files. The "Undeleter" settings can be customized in Options > Undeleter.

  • File Associator

File Associator allows the user to associate a file / file types with viewer/editor programs. File types that are currently unassociated are marked red. User needs to click an entry to select it or hold down Shift to select multiple entries starting with the first selected entry or use "Ctrl +" to select multiple entries individually.

  • File Wiper

When Windows deletes a file, the deleted file's disk space is marked as reusable. As long as it isn't used for new data, the original data is still there and can be recovered easily. 'File Wiper' overwrites these areas with data such as zeros so the data can no longer be recovered.

  • Unlocker

This module allows the user to unlock files that are currently locked/used by Windows, e.g., to delete them. Note: Deleting system-critical files may lead to crashes and instabilities.

  • Backups

Ashampoo® UnInstaller allows the user to "undo" changes made by the Registry Optimizer or WinOptimizer, (through Registry Optimizer) if the changes have led to undesired system behavior.

NOTES:

Ashampoo UnInstaller 15's performance as an app 'uninstaller' is still outstanding and truly remains to be one of the best utilities in the market today!

Like it's predecessor, UnInstaller 14 uninstalls/removes programs completely alongside having logs that the user can see/check from time to time. It does seem 'déjà vu' because it feels the same as UnInstaller 14 too! If not for the slight difference in the new UI, I feel it is the same whatever Ashampoo claims that this is new version. Still the same design of the 'Main Interface' and the 'modules' (still 9).

The 'still' exceptional features I like are the (1) Real-time monitoring, (2) Installation guard, (3) Deep Cleaning technology, and (4) Undeleter (very useful when recovering previously deleted files). Again, I did not feel any significant speed improvements with the mentioned features. I could not compare as I have uninstalled Ashampoo UnInstaller 14 in lieu of AU15. I guess I have to take Ashampoo's word on this one.

Question on 'Redesigned reports with Windows app support' and 'Deletion history for all cleaners'
Well, I was looking for the logs for the 'Windows Apps' and 'Browser plug-ins' that I deleted but I could not see any. The 'Tools > Backup', ONLY has 'Registry Cleaning' and 'Privacy Traces Cleaner' and nothing else. I do not understand the 'with Windows app support' and 'Deletion history for all cleaners'. I have sent Ashampoo Support this query. I will update when I have the data.

The Ashampoo UnInstaller 15 price tag is the same as it's predecessor! Both UnInstaller 15 and UnInstaller 14 is priced at $27.5o one-time payment / 1-device.

Revo Uninstaller Pro v5 is at $12.47 1-year / 1-PC and $19.97 2-year / 1-PC See HERE

IObit UnInstaller 14 PRO at $14.77 for 1-year, 1-PC plan and $16.77  for 1-year, 3-PC plan See HERE

All mentioned apps above are fully equipped and can compete toe-to-toe with Ashampoo UnInstaller 15 anytime, any day! It's a matter of choice and preference really and the user is always king!

Cheers!
