AMD plans for Radeon RX 8000 laptop series

Is AMD really planning four different SKUs for the Radeon RX 8000M series? No one can provide a direct answer, but we know that Navi4X GPUs are coming, and at least two GPUs are expected. It wouldn’t be surprising if AMD created at least two SKUs for each processor.

Yet, if the Radeon RX 7000M series serves as any example, AMD’s GPU portfolio and what’s ultimately released to the market may differ considerably. For the RDNA3-based models, AMD used three GPUs—Navi 31, Navi 32, and Navi 33—but only released four SKUs.

According to Golden Pig, there are four SKUs in the upcoming RDNA4 mobile lineup. None are named, but they supposedly target even RX 7900M tiers with a maximum power target of 175W. The R25M-E6, the flagship RDNA4 SKU within the upcoming series, is said to feature 16GB memory across a 256-bit memory bus. This configuration is also expected in the flagship GeForce RTX 50 series.

AMD is also preparing a 12GB 192-bit variant called R25M-E4 with the same TGP, so presumably, both are Navi 48-based SKUs. On the other hand, there’s the Navi 44-based R25M-P6 and R25M-P4, expected to feature up to 130W and 150W TGPs with 8GB 128-bit memory configurations, aligning with the RX 7600M series.

AMD has struggled to boost the popularity of its discrete Radeon GPUs in the mobile market, with the challenge often attributed not to performance but to supply and availability. If AMD could meet demand more consistently, we’d likely see a greater presence of Radeon GPUs in gaming laptops.
