Lossless Scaling likely needs no introduction at this point. However, as a brief recap, it is a third-party paid tool that adds upscaling and frame generation to games lacking such functionality. While it is by no means a perfect tool or easy to use, each update has increased its popularity, especially among modders and users of emulators.

LSFG 3, short for Lossless Scaling Frame Generation 3, is an improvement over the previous release. As reported earlier, it was the first widely used solution to enable x3 and later x4 frame generation technology. NVIDIA is taking a similar approach with its DLSS 4 technology, recently announced at CES. Meanwhile, the new version of LSFG enables x10 and x20 frame generation. Of course, at such a high frame generation, the artifacts are turn games unplayable, as captured by Ancient Gameplays:

This, of course, makes the game unplayable, but there might be some use for this technology in slow paced emulated games and such. Plus, the x2/x3 modes are just incomparably better and perhaps what gamers should stick to in the first place.

Unlike solutions requiring developer integration, LSFG operates as a system-level tool that enables per-game profiles. While it may not be as effective as game-integrated solutions or driver-level tools like AMD’s Hyper-RX, it is often the only option available for certain games.
