grepWin 1.7.1.720 (search and replace text)
Locate text strings and replace them in several documents simultaneously, with this lightweight and efficient implementation.
grepWin is a useful program that allows you to search and replace text in multiple files simultaneously. It is handy when you have many documents that require corrections.
The interface of the application is represented by a standard window with a well organized layout. Without making any adjustments to the tool, you can simply specify the file container, the text string you want to find and replace it.
But grepWin lets you filter the search by providing some configuration options. For example, you can enable the sensitive mode for clunkers, treating files as UTF8, set a file size limit, exclude directories and write text correspondence templates for file names.
It is also possible to include system items, hidden items and subfolders, to allow only one instance of grepWin and choose the mode of correspondence between RegEx and text. In addition, you can enter a command line to start an editor on a specific line.
The program does not take much time to locate and replace elements (depending on the volume of information it processes). It is very responsive to keyboard commands and includes a help file. We did not encounter any problem during our evaluation, because the application was not blocked, did not overwritten or not displayed error dialog. Thanks to its implementation and intuitive page-rich filter settings, grepWin should appeal to the general public.
