Quote:Microsoft is investigating a known issue affecting the new Chromium-based Edge browser where the app is automatically launching itself on Windows startup even if users haven't configured it to auto-start after their systems boot up.
"We've heard from our community that some versions of Microsoft Edge are automatically launching whenever users start their PCs and log into Windows, regardless of their selection in edge://settings/onStartup," Microsoft community manager Fawkes Serafinski said. "It’s currently unknown whether there are any accompanying behavioral changes with this bug," he added.
Serafinski also asked the community to help debug this issue by sharing diagnostic data using the Microsoft Edge built-in feedback utility that can be opened with the ALT+SHIFT+I keyboard shortcuts or by going to Menu > Help and feedback > Send feedback. "To help our devs understand and address this as quickly as possible, we ask that you kindly share diagnostic data through our secure in-browser feedback tool," he added.
The instructions needed to generate the diagnostic data can be found within this blog post and they require users to enable logging, restarting their computers, and generating a log file via Powershell.
