O&O DiskImage 16 Professional Edition

O&O DiskImage 16 Professional is the latest update build version of O&O Software's product line for disk imaging/backup. O&O DiskImage is the reliable and affordable solution for protecting your private or professional data. O&O DiskImage provides you with everything you'll need to protect your data just like an IT specialist: it lets you image and restore entire Server systems as well as individual files. With O&O DiskImage entire computers, single drives and files can be backed up during running operations. By restoring such an image, a user has their normal and familiar working environment back again in a short space of time, regardless of whether it is restored onto the original computer or one with different hardware. With O&O DiskImage it is possible to create a boot medium on USB Stick or CD-R directly from within the program. This medium can then be used to restore an image onto a computer. O&O DiskImage supports all current Windows versions from Windows 7 to Windows 10. With just one click, a user can start to image the entire computer. One-Click imaging is especially useful if O&O DiskImage is being used for the first time or when an existing computer image is not available. To restore an entire PC or the system partition, O&O DiskImage can be started directly from a boot medium, no installation required. If certain hardware components of the PC were exchanged between backup and restoration, or even a new PC was purchased, this is not a problem: thanks to the Machine Independent Restoration (MIR), O&O DiskImage can restore existing images on computers with a changed hardware configuration.

Users who wish to save their data to an external storage medium can take advantage of the integrated plug-and -play functionality which backs up and synchronizes selected files and folders automatically. This automatic-backup feature is ideal for users who because of their busy schedule forget to carry out regular backups. This feature, once configured, will function to run by itself. O&O DiskImage 16 Professional has a built-in wizard that accompanies a user step-by-step through the creation of an automatic data backup. This significantly easier to use backup functionality enables even novice users to create a reliable and fast backup of their data immediately. O&O DiskImage not only offers an intuitive user interface, but also an extensive scripting interface that allows professional users to perform all functions of the application in batch files or custom applications.

To optimize the memory requirements, the user can specify the maximum number of backups that should be saved so that old ones are automatically replaced by new images. To offer increased data security the program also clearly displays those drives that have not yet been imaged or backed up so that the user can bring their security up-to-date.

O&O DiskImage's "DiskImage To Go" function automatically turns an external hard drive that you select to store an image on (or USB flash drive with enough storage space) into an O&O DiskImage boot medium, and marks this disk as the preferred storage medium for future system backups. As soon as you connect this external USB hard disk to your computer, O&O DiskImage 16 automatically creates an image of all internal drives and the data partition onto it. This makes it easy to create a recent backup. And, if something really happens to your computer or you want to transfer your system and all your data to a new computer, then with the O&O DiskImage boot medium you can restore the image stored on it with just one touch of a button, without the hassle of searching for the boot medium and the external hard drive with the backup. It has never been so easy to ensure the security of your data!

O&O DiskImage 16 offers full support for the VHDX (Virtual Hard Disk) Format. The main advantage of VHDX is its increased storage capacity of 64 TB (terabytes), instead of VHD’s standard storage limit of 2 TB. Another advantage of VHDX is the file corruption protection.

The NEW O&O DiskImage RecoveryPartition contains a bootable image and, if wanted, your backups. If the user's OS no longer starts, the O&O DiskImage boot environment will start automatically. User will be able to restore backups from your O&O DiskImage RecoveryPartition or from an external disk. User can also use the O&O DiskImage RecoveryPartition as his default path for future backups. Do take note of the size requirements for creating a new partition.

Once creation is completed, O&O Software recommends making a "complete backup" or "One-click image". If user has selected the O&O DiskImage RecoveryPartition as his default backup path, the image will be saved there.

To boot from the O&O DiskImage RecoveryPartition, user can "Press and Hold > Shift key" while clicking "Restart“ in the start menu. User can also select "Update & Security" in Settings. Left-click "Recovery" in the menu. At the right under “Advanced start” you’ll be able to boot from the advanced start environment by clicking "Restart now”.

"Settings > Update & Security > Recovery (in the menu) > Advanced start > Restart now"

Under "Resolve problems", "Advanced options" select "Start help" to boot from the boot environment. If the user's system has a problem, the advanced start will automatically run. User can be able to boot and restore a backup via "Resolve problems > Advanced options > Start help"

NEW AND ENHANCED FEATURES

  • NEW: O&O DiskImage Recovery Partition

Normally with a backup or imaging program you need to create a boot medium (CD, USB) to boot up your system if something goes awry. This you have to either carry around or store somewhere safe in case disaster strikes. The new O&O DiskImage 16 now saves the recovery environment on the computer itself, so that in the event of system failure the system can be started directly from there - including, of course, the last system image.

Thanks to the integration into the system, the O&O DiskImage Recovery Partition can be accessed immediately so that the last system image can be restored directly. If the Windows operating system does not start or if faulty drivers have to be uninstalled – with the integrated recovery environment, all O&O tools are available to make the system operational again as easily as possible. Not only is this much more comfortable and quicker for the user, it also provides them with an extra level of security as this medium cannot get lost or damaged as easily as a “portable”, external one.

  • O&O DiskImage To Go

With O&O DiskImage it is possible to create a boot medium on USB Stick or CD-R directly from within the program. This medium can then be used to restore an image onto a computer. O&O DiskImage supports all current Windows versions from Windows 7 to Windows 10. One-Click imaging: With just one click, a user can start to image the entire computer. One-Click imaging is especially useful if O&O DiskImage is being used for the first time or when an existing computer image is not available.

  • Restoration onto different hardware

The integrated M.I.R. (machine independent restoration) feature allows users to restore a system onto different hardware. Not only can an image or clone be restored onto servers and desktops with identical hardware, they can also be restored onto machines where, for example, the motherboard or processor has been changed. After the image has been restored, the new hardware can be adapted, and the system can once again be started. Technology from the renowned O&O BlueCon Administrator Pack is used for doing this.

  • Restoration of system backups

To restore an entire PC or the system partition, O&O DiskImage can be started directly from a boot medium, no installation required. If certain hardware components of the PC were exchanged between backup and restoration, or even a new PC was purchased, this is not a problem: thanks to the Machine Independent Restoration (MIR), O&O DiskImage can restore existing images on computers with a changed hardware configuration.

  • Cloning machines

Cloning will create a 1:1 copy (or clone) of the disk or partition(s) directly on the target disk. This feature provides an immediate copy of the hard disk structure including its partition sectors. A cloned disk contains all partitions of the source disk.

  • Creation of system images

When imaging a drive, the entire content of a selected disk or partition will be saved in an image file on a target disk. All the backed-up data is thereby located in one single file which makes managing backups much easier. A complete imaging of a system hard disk will involve backing up the entire operating system as well as all programs and settings. The image file can be encrypted with a password whenever necessary.

  • Making file backups

File backups will involve saving files directly in the form of data. This kind of backup contains file information only and includes no information about the drive itself.

  • Data backup on a bootable medium

The DiskImage To Go feature can turn an external hard disk (or USB stick with enough free space) into an O&O DiskImage recovery disk and at the same time make this disk the preferred device for all future system restorations. O&O DiskImage will automatically make a new backup whenever this external disk is connected to the computer. Making new backups is now child’s play.

  • Mounting backups as virtual drives

Drives can be mounted from images and displayed as write-protected virtual drives in Windows Explorer. This gives users the option of copying individual files and folders onto physical disks.

  • Mounting data from ISO files

Standard ISO files (ISO 9660) can be mounted as data image files and as virtual hard disks.

  • Script interface

Control of all O&O DiskImage features with extensive script interfaces for integrating batches as well as a user’s own applications.

  • Various imaging methods

For a complete image, users can choose between an image of used sectors and an all-inclusive forensic image for purposes of data recovery. An incremental or differential image will only backup those data areas that have changed since the last image operation, thus saving space.

  • EFI/UEFI Systems

O&O DiskImage not only supports systems based on the classic BIOS, but the current EFI/UEFI systems as well.

  • Plug and Play functionality

Selected files and folders are automatically backed up and synchronized. With the new O&O DiskImage, it is possible to run several tasks at the same time.

  • Backup physical machines in virtual machines (P2V)

O&O DiskImage image files can be converted into Microsoft Virtual Hard Disk (VHDX and VHD) virtual backups. This kind of converted backup can be mounted directly as a virtual drive on a virtual computer without having to install O&O DiskImage. Time zone and key settings will be taken from the target system.

  • Extension of file-based restoration

Invalid or defective files can now be skipped.

  • Optimized memory usage

It’s possible to set the maximum number of images that can be saved before older images should be automatically overwritten.

  • User interface

With the completely revamped O&O DiskImage user interface, all the product’s features are just a click away. Actions can be started manually, run as jobs on schedules, or carried out automatically.

  • Variable DPI settings

O&O DiskImage adjusts perfectly to the selected DPI setting.

  • High Contrast Mode support

High Contrast Mode support has been improved to make objects on the monitor easier to recognize.

I am using the last version O&O DiskImage 15 Professional and I agree its better than Ashampoo's Backup pro 14 (perhaps also their new version 15). If I may suggest that O&O Software look into adding a screenshot feature in their WinPE rescue disk. I noticed Macrium added that way back in build 4971. Well if they can only and if it is feasible. I mean even Acronis do not have that. It would be a nifty tool for the user and especially the testers. Also the interface if you can please! It looks like the old version 12! Thanks O&O Software for continuing to develop and improve O&O DiskImage. Imaging speeds have improved as compared to old versions. Been waiting for this new version!! Thanks for this contest! Happy Halloween!

I have used O&O diskimage since version 12 and I am really impressed by it. The interface, though, very easy to use can be made a bit more modern. The speed and reliability of backups and restoring images is excellent and I have saved my PC once by using this app.
I want to win the newer version as it has O&O DiskImage RecoveryPartition which  restores backups from one's O&O DiskImage RecoveryPartition or from an external disk in case the OS does not boot up.
Thanks!!

I purchased a year ago the family pack of O&O DiskImage 15 Professional Edition. I'm very happy with it because I restored my PCs many times without any problem. Now, I'd like to win a license of the version 16, so I can restore my PC without any boot medium, taking advantage of the new O&O DiskImage Recovery Partition

Thanks for the giveaway

I just got a free license of O&O DiskImage 15 Professional yesterday.  I installed it and tried to clone my pc's backup hard drive D and it was successful and I did not encounter any problems. I want to clone my system hard drive which is drive C with the latest version.  So I'm hoping to get a license of O&O DiskImage 16 Pro.  Thank you again for this nice giveaway contest.  Good luck to all of us participants.

Thanks a lot for another great giveaway @jasonX.
I am an old user of O&O products and especially a fan of DiskImage. To me this is the lightest back-up solution on the market, extremely user friendly and with great recovery capabilities. In addition, the new version has brought us the partition recovery which I may need as once by mistake I deleted a partition.
Count me in to the draw please.
I followed them on all my social media and the giveaway was shared below:

Thank you for the opportunity to win this amazing giveaway, @jasonX and O&O Software GmbH!

"Share feedback about your experience using O&O DiskImage (can be of your latest trial usage of O&O DiskImage 16 or earlier product versions) and WHY do you want to win a license of O&O DiskImage 16 Professional Edition?"

I've upgraded to O&O DiskImage 15 Professional Edition from DiskImage 12 Professional, which I've won from last contest here in GFYI. Its performance and reliability in partition imaging and disk cloning process including restoration has improved immensely. I also noticed that incremental and differential backups speeds have slightly improved but still slower compared to Macrium Reflect. O&O DiskImage 15 Professional Edition serves as my default go-to full-featured backup solution. It has improved in terms of backup and restoration speeds and smaller image compression size, which is good enough for me. It also overhauled its user interface to me more user friendly even for novices. It seems there are new amazing features in version 16 that I really like to check out.

Having an O&O DiskImage 16 Professional Edition license is a much needed upgrade since is the latest update build version of O&O Software's product line for disk imaging/backup/restoration and has also integrated its newest feature, the O&O DiskImage Recovery Partition into the system, which can be accessed immediately so that the last system image can be restored directly. O&O DiskImage's most-wanted features like, One-click imaging, DiskImage To Go and full support for VHDX, which enable further enhancements and faster backup/cloning/restoration speeds. Hope to win in this contest. Count me in please!
