Apple's "One More Thing" event will reportedly feature two new 13-inch MacBooks
#1
Information
Quote:Yesterday, Apple announced a third virtual event for the fall using the tagline "One More Thing". The company had already introduced new iPad and Apple Watch models in September, and the iPhone 12 lineup was announced in another event last month, so the only thing that's left is the introduction of ARM-based macOS devices.

Now, Bloomberg has reported that Apple's manufacturing partners are ramping up production for a number of MacBook models, which are expected to be introduced next week. According to the report, there are two devices further ahead in production - a 13-inch MacBook Air and a 13-inch MacBook Pro - and these are the most likely to be announced at the event. Both models are being built by Foxconn.

Meanwhile, Quanta Computer is building a 16-inch version of the MacBook Pro with ARM chipsets, though this appears to be in earlier stages of production. It's possible that this model will still be announced next week, but release at a later date. Aside from adopting the new ARM processors, the new Macs are expected to look the same as the current models.

Apple announced it would be transitioning its Mac family to ARM-based chipsets back at WWDC in the summer, and that the transition would happen over the next two years. Apple has been using Intel processors in its Mac devices since the iMac Core Duo launched in January of 2006, at the time transitioning from the PowerPC platform.
