Firefox Focus, Mozilla’s private browser for Android and iOS is getting a revamp. It blocks trackers and clears cookies and search history, which not only improves performance but also protects your privacy. Mozilla is currently testing a new look for Firefox Focus in version 93.Firefox FocusWhat makes Firefox Focus special or separate from Firefox or other browsers is it always runs in private browsing mode by default. Means, cookies, browsing history, tracking cookies will be cleared automatically when you close this browser on Android.

Mozilla has recently launched redesigned Firefox for Android, but you can still use Focus if you want.

When compared with regular Firefox on Android, Firefox Focus doesn’t support extensions, bookmarking, or bookmarks.

Focus is a fork of Firefox and Mozilla initially launched it as a tracker blocker for iOS devices.

Both Firefox and Focus use the Geckoview engine.

Plus:
  • Responsive, simple, and clean UI.
  • Hard on trackers, easy on resources.
  • content blocking
  • Within Private browsing mode, cookies, search, and browsing history will be erased when you close it
Minus:
  • Misses tab management.
  • No bookmarks
  • Firefox Focus is available in certain regions. In Germany, Austria, or Switzerland it is available as Firefox Klar.
Moreover, Firefox Focus
  • blocks trackers and scripts from ads, analytics, and social sites.
  • You can make pages load faster by blocking web fonts in Settings.
  • With Google Safe Browsing, Focus gives protection from malware and phishing sites
  • Offers stealth to prevent from taking screenshots and hides web pages when switching apps.

What’s new:

1.- Complete new interface

2.- Till now, trackers blocked by browser displayed in the Firefox Focus menu, now, similar to desktop, they were shown in a new panel when you tap on the shield icon in the address bar. The panel displays the following infomation:
  • Site information in a sub-panel
  • Enhanced Tracking Protection toggle
  • Control trackers and script blocking per site
  • The total number of trackers that were blocked.
3.- As we stated at the outset, Focus doesn’t support bookmarks. Mozilla is trying to tackle that by introducing Shortcuts. If you visit some sites frequently you can add them as shortcuts. Tap on the three-dot icon and select “Add to shortcuts”.

4.- Enhanced Tracking Protection for a site can now be turned off more easily.
