Ashampoo UnInstaller 12: Ashampoo's most powerful uninstaller yet!

Ashampoo GmbH & Co. KG has released the new version Ashampoo® UnInstaller version 12 last October 2022 and true to its promise this uninstaller application is the best there is, yet!

Ashampoo® UnInstaller 12 uninstalls/deletes programs without leftovers and allowing the user to install, test and remove software without worries. Not only that! Ashampoo® UnInstaller 12 comes with more improved tools to help the user maintain his system efficiently! It is a suite of system utilities / tools that can suffice for any PC user's needs!

Ashampoo® UnInstaller 12 utilizes four deletion methods to ensure a more thorough removal than is possible with Windows' default means. Even nested setups are fully logged and removable. The installation monitoring technology built into UnInstaller logs all file and system modifications and completely reverses them during software removal. The program auto-detects "most" installations from beginning to end so users don't have to take manual action. Installations that weren't logged by UnInstaller are still fully removable thanks to the built-in database with hundreds of software profiles.

Ashampoo® UnInstaller can perform additional in-depth cleaning to remove leftovers created by an application during use. This feature is enabled by default. In most cases, logging will also start and stop automatically so the user can just sit back and watch! In addition, the program can tell fresh installations from updates to avoid erroneous logging! This significantly improves UnInstaller's logging capabilities and gives the user a clearer picture of what happens during program installations!

If monitoring is enabled ("ON"), user can also right-click the corresponding icon in the Windows notification area to access the context menu and use "" to manually trigger new installations. Alternatively, the user can also left-click the icon.  During installations, a "notification" at the top of your screen can be seen signifying that the installation is being monitored/logged. User can manually stop the logging process by clicking "Installation completed".

9. Tools
These are collection of tools that help the user clean system, remove no longer needed and leftover files and defragment the hard drive(s). Note that some modules that delete files and folders will always move them to the recycle bin first with the exception of "File Wiper". This allows the user to restore files/folders in the event of malfunctions. Note that this is only applicable if the user has NOT set the recycle bin to always delete files. Registry Optimizer always creates backup. If the user experiences any issues once cleaning is finished, he can always "revert" any changes through "Backups". Categories are below.

  • Drive Cleaner

Drive Cleaner scans the user's system for no longer needed files and displays results grouped by categories. Ashampoo® UnInstaller displays the number of results for each category. User needs to "check" the check boxes to select/deselect individual results or use the top buttons to select all/no results from a category. A "Create report" can be availed to save your results as a text file. User can also make "exceptions" and specify file formats to be scanned. This can be seen in (Settings > Drive Cleaner > Exceptions and Settings > Drive Cleaner > Search drives)

  • Registry Optimizer

Registry Optimizer scans the user's Windows Registry database for no longer needed entries and displays results grouped by categories. User needs to "check" the check boxes to select/deselect individual results or use the top buttons to select all/no results from a category. A "Write a report" is there to save results as a text file. Exceptions are also allowed and user can specify an entry as an exception to exclude it from future searches. He can remove exceptions in the settings for this module. (Settings > Registry Optimizer > Exceptions)

  • Internet Cleaner

User can specify a scanned entry as an exception to exclude it from future searches. User can also remove exceptions in the settings for this module. This allows the user to keep settings such as login data for your webmail account from being deleted every time he uses Internet Cleaner thus eliminating the need to set it again. User can modify the list of secure cookies in the settings for this module. All browser elements to be "found" (Find Elements) can be set in (Settings > Internet Cleaner) as well as the user can also set cookies that are exempted from cleaner (Settings > Internet Cleaner > Secure Cookies)

  • Boot Center

This module lists a summary for recorded boot times, autorun entries and tasks.

  • Service Manager

Services are background programs required by Windows and other applications to work properly. This module lists all installed services and provides a rating on their usefulness. It also allows the user to modify start types individually.

  • Undeleter

Ashampoo® UnInstaller's "Undeleter" attempts to recover accidentally deleted files. User simply needs to select a drive and click "Search". Selected files after the scan can be recovered. The search text can be used to filter or narrow down the list of results. User needs to click "Restore" to recover the selected files. The "Undeleter" settings can be customized in Options > Undeleter.

  • File Associator

File Associator allows the user to associate a file / file types with viewer/editor programs. File types that are currently unassociated are marked red. User needs to click an entry to select it or hold down Shift to select multiple entries starting with the first selected entry or use "Ctrl +" to select multiple entries individually.

  • File Wiper

When Windows deletes a file, the deleted file's disk space is marked as reusable. As long as it isn't used for new data, the original data is still there and can be recovered easily. FileWiper overwrites these areas with data such as zeros so the data can no longer be recovered.

  • Unlocker

This module allows the user to unlock files that are currently locked/used by Windows, e.g., to delete them. Note: Deleting system-critical  files may lead to crashes and instabilities.

  • Backups

Ashampoo® UnInstaller allows the user to "undo" changes made by the Registry Optimizer or WinOptimizer, (through Registry Optimizer) if the changes have led to undesired system behavior.

NOTES:

Ashampoo UnInstaller 12's performance as an uninstaller is "outstanding" and true to its promise, remains one of the best utilities for a Windows user. Like previous UnInstaller version builds, UnInstaller 12 effectively uninstalls/removes programs completely alongside having logs that the user can see/check from time to time. This version is a "bit" faster than UnInstaller 10 too! Well, only a "few" seconds was slashed from total time of uninstall (including leftover cleaning) but still an improvement. Among the exceptional features are the (1) Real-time monitoring, (2) Installation guard, (3) Deep Cleaning technology, and (4) Undeleter (very useful when recovering previously deleted files)

Ashampoo UnInstaller 12 and Ashampoo WinOptimizer 25 has some overlapping features and tools (again) but since user preference is always king.... "Retain both" or, "retain just one"? If user has Ashampoo WinOptimizer 25 he may not have  any use for Ashampoo UnInstaller 12 except for (1) Real-time monitoring, and (2) Installation guard.

Ashampoo UnInstaller 12's interface is great and is among the best user interface in relation to other uninstaller apps in the market. The user interface is also pleasing to the eye. Each tool or feature is kept tidy. IObit Uninstaller 12 PRO also sports this easy-to-the-eye user interface as well. CCleaner Pro retaining its "old-simple" user interface and Revo Uninstaller Pro also keeps to stand with their old user interface.

The only issue with Ashampoo UnInstaller 12 is its price tag. UnInstaller 12 (formerly priced at $40) is now $25 but in comparison with other popular uninstaller/utilities it is still expensive. Revo Uninstaller Pro is at $7.49 (70% discount See HERE), CCleaner Pro -at $14.97 (See HERE), IObit Uninstaller 12 PRO at $16.77 (See HERE) to name a few.

All mentioned applications  are fully equipped to rival Ashampoo UnInstaller 12 anytime. It should also be noted that all four (4) uninstaller apps mentioned have their own FREE versions and they get the job done. They only vary with the additional tools included in all their paid versions.
