Intel to discontinue 11th Gen Core “Tiger Lake” series

The company issues a Product Change Notification (PCN) which officially starts the discontinuance of the series.

Several mobile and desktop CPUs based on Tiger Lake silicon are to be discontinued by January 2024. The process has already started this week and will have a few stages before the CPUs officially reach ‘end of life’ status.

Intel lists five mobile 11th Gen Core-H series SKUs, including the Core i7-11800H which was probably the most popular CPU for gaming laptops in the series.

The company also confirms that four B-series ‘desktop’ CPUs will also be discontinued. Those are the mobile/desktop hybrid SKUs that were used by Intel NUC Extreme systems.

What might be interesting is that none of these CPUs are officially sold by Intel to DIY customers. However, many systems (laptops) and NUC PCs equipped with Tiger Lake are still available on sale.

The Tiger Lake series will join ranks with Rocket Lake desktop CPUs which were discontinued just a few weeks ago. This means an ultimate end of the 11th Gen Core series.
