Overview

AirVPN started  their humble beginnings as a project in 2010 by a very small group of activists, hacktivists, with the invaluable (and it was totally free!) help of two fantastic lawyers and a financing from a company interested in the project and operated by the very same people.

Initially AirVPN had two dedicated servers in one country and was operated by Iridium, a company which was born in 1998 and that employed, in the telecommunication field, only persons involved in digital or non-digital civil activism. Iridium took care of AirVPN until November 2012, when all the handling was progressively transferred to a dedicated company (Air) with the very same persons and policies (no changes for the customers, for the privacy and for the data protection, even the privacy legal responsible person is the same one).
 

Today, AirVPN is operated exclusively by activists, privacy, data protection and security issues aware persons, law experts with the help of the same lawyers, and counts more than 200 servers with high bandwidth lines and good or top hardware in 35 datacenters across 19 countries in 3 continents. The solidity of the infrastructure is enhanced literally every week, so that most attacks (UDP and TCP flood, DDoS...) that caused service issues in the first AirVPN year of life now remain totally unnoticed to the users.

 

AirVPN Client - Eddie

Eddie is a free and open source (GPLv3) OpenVPN and WireGuard wrapper with additional features like:
 

• User-friendly UI
  
• Multiplatform support: Windows, macOS, Android, GNU/Linux (with particular effort to support a lot of distro) with multiple architectures: x64, x86, armv7i, aarch64 (Raspberry)
  
• Censorship counter-measures, like tunnel over SSH, over SSL, direct Tor integration
  
• Network lock / leak prevention
  
• Advanced options for DNS, routing, events, leak etc.
  
• Customizable actions triggered by events
  
• CLI edition
  

 

Eddie is the official client of AirVPN. While Eddie is focused on usage simplicity and quick responsiveness, it also includes features which can be appreciated by the advanced users, such as full control on OpenVPN directives, custom directives and custom routes. It's integrated with AirVPN VPN service (required for some feature like tunnel over SSH/SSL), but can be used standalone with any OpenVPN or WireGuard provider (tick Preferences -> Advanced -> Multi provider to add other providers or even remove AirVPN).

  AirVPN offers OpenVPN on ports 80 TCP / UDP, 443 TCP / UDP and 53 TCP / UDP. Additionally, every Air server supports directly OpenVPN over SSH, OpenVPN over SSL and OpenVPN over Tor. • Hide your IP - Get a new IP address, so that nobody can discover your identity through it

I had used AirVPN in the past but because of connection issues, I had to move to another service. I do not know if it was only me but many a times AirVPN could not connect on windows. So, I would like to see a more refined client for AirVPN windows. I am very curious to see what the future holds for AirVPN. 
I want to get an AirVPN subscription license to use it for bypassing geoblocking restrictions and it's no log policy is an assurance for the same. I could really help me during my travels abroad.

I'd like to see more Asian severs please, if posible, because the majority of the servers are European servers. The performance, especially the WireGuard protocol is great especially when torrenting. Downloaded the whole set of Dr. Who series with it Very nice! Many thanks for this contest! I have been a user of AirVPN for 1-year+ now and I have been satisfied! I'd ike to continue using AirVPN so I joined here!

Thank you for the giveaway.
In the future version I would like more servers from Asian countries, Australia and Russia and no CAPTCHTA problems, as they appear just like in Mullvad when trying browsing some websites if possible. It would be great if I could connect to Netflix using AirVPN without any problems. It would also be useful to have support against displaying a large number of ads.

AirVPN has very good encryption: CHACHA20-POLY1305 AES-256-GCM and no maximum speed limit and no logs. I would like to exchange my expiring Mullvad subscription for AirVPN.

I had a subscription to AirVPN, and I was happy with everything, good speed, confidentiality, and there is even a portable version. I wouldn't change anything, since everything is great in the latest version. Many VPN providers are starting to add something and in many cases it only gets worse.

What I like about AirVPN.
AirVPN comes with the necessary and important industry-standard security features such as "no-logs" policy, 256-bit AES encryption, and a kill switch option. It also offers perfect forward secrecy, full leak protection, split-tunneling,  and Tor support. ... I like that AirVPN is "open source" which means that anyone who know how can investigate AirVPN’s security.

What I wish to see happen in the near future with AirVPN.
I wish that AirVPN had a server network but it works well in the countries that I visit at this time. 

What I wish to see happen in the next AirVPN build is for AirVPN to work with these major streaming services: Amazon Prime, Hulu, and Max.
