Quick Scan
A fast scan only tries to rebuild files from every deleted flag in a file system.

Advanced Scan
Automatically starts right after the quick scan, which not only fully checks the file directories/indexes to find more files, but also goes through every sector on the hard drive to increase the possibility of a successful recovery.

The user can "pause" or "stop" the scanning process anytime via the "Pause / Stop button" at the lower left corner of the interface.

 

A scan session of EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard finds files via 2 parts: (1) Lost Files, and (2) Existing Files.


1. Lost Files
These are the files that are designated as:

(i) Deleted

Deleted (files)  are files that are searched from the files system during the 'Quick Scan'.

(ii) Tags Extracted

Loosing filenames makes it difficult to find the files you want to recover. Therefore, EaseUS extracted some residual attributed information as "Tags" (such as the camera that took the photo, artist of the song, creator of the Office document, such as PDF, etc.) to help you locate these files without the filename but with some residual attributes.

It is highly recommended to save the scan session file and that will be helpful in case of any interruption happens during the recovery process. The scan session can be saved via the second top icon on the menu bar. See image below.
 

The "saved" scan session can be loaded anytime via the same icon. The default folder for the saved scan session is below:

C:\Program Files\EaseUS\EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard\SaveScan

(iii) File Name lost

These are files that are found with 'Advanced Scan', but the filename (itself) is missing. Although without the filename, it is (still) possible that they are the lost files that user wants to recover.



2. Existing Files
These are the existing files (existing data on the drive) which can be ignored.


Users can use the "Filter" function so the search results can be "filtered" to not reflect "Existing Files" and only show "Lost Files".

EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Pro is simple to use and commences a scan the moment the user selects the drive (or whatever device) for scanning. The 'Quick scan' is the first and then followed by the 'Advanced scan'. When the scan completes, the detected files will be listed with an accompanying file structure. Users are advised to check the file size, date modified, and file type to properly discern the lost files that he is looking for. One of the most useful features of this software is the 'Preview' feature (pre-recovery viewing). This is a sort of reassurance allowing the user to view/observe the lost files for recovery. The 'Search' box gives the user the opportunity to find specific files. If the user knows what specific file, say, filename, then using the 'Search' is the fastest way to find those files.

To recover the found data, the user just simply needs to select the files he wants to recover, click 'Recover', assign a recovery destination and wait for the recovery process to finish. Pretty simple!

'Bootable Media'

FINAL WORD

Feature wise, EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Pro does everything it needs to do for the user who needs to recover lost data. The interface is clean and looks good without any clutter to confuse the user. Scans are fast and recovery is at par with the other comparative data recovery software used. Recovery is effective, as it recovered 8 out of 8 files that were deleted. There was an issue on "no preview" in "AirVPN INTRODUCTION_2023_DRAFT.docx" but this "no preview" is also present in the alternatives. Let it be noted that despite the "preview issues" encountered all files were intact and usable. See list of preview issues below.

Some notable features of EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Pro are mentioned again below.

1. Recovery repair
In a random search for lost files, I encountered an image file that was offered 'recovery repair'. While the recovery repair did not give the same image as previously seen. The repair was commendable still. I do not see that there is a recovery repair on both the alternatives used for comparisons (that is within the tests done).


2. Save / Load scan session
None of the alternatives used for comparison have this feature. So there will be no means to save a scan session (when using them) and the user has to repeat the scan/recovery process for his quest for lost files. See relevant images above.


Bootable Media creation issue
EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Pro allows for the creation of bootable drive via "Crash PC Recovery". Now I remember in EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Pro ver7 there was an option to "Export to ISO". This was useful because if you do not have a spare USB drive you can still create the WinPE bootable ISO. I cannot understand why did EaseUS did this? See link on the version7 feature below.

Here in EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Pro version 17.0 that "Export to ISO" feature is nowhere to be seen. Option just to create to a USB drive!!! Why EaseUS?

Anyway, since I do not have a spare USB drive at the moment I used an existing USB rescue media. Formatted it to suit EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Pro's needs. The creation went well but to my surprise the USB drive was "empty". See image below.
 

I still tried to boot the system to the created USB --"usbboot (k) (--boot-to-usb) but it did not boot. Only showed a 3 or 4 letter gibberish characters. I wasn't surprised after all the usbboot (k) was empty.

Now I repeated the creation 3x to no avail. Even uninstalled / re-installed EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Pro v17.0. It still showed "empty" (same as the image above). Now to verify if it is the USB drive that is at issue, I formatted it again and re-created the rescue media USB drive (the former Paramount Software UK program it was used for). The rescue media USB drive (re-created) booted fine and dandy. So, it isn't the USB drive that is at fault here. Now this is a crucial issue and any new user should be alarmed about this issue of bootable drive creation failure.

I have sent EaseUS support a ticket about this and we are currently discussing the issue. Let it be noted that during the creation of the USB bootable drive via the "Crashed PC Recovery", EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Pro v17 downloads an ISO file --"ImagePE.iso" that is located in the installation directory (C:\Program Files\EaseUS\EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard). Thus, the user needs to be connected to the internet while creating the bootable drive. That "ImagePE.iso" is the WinPE of EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Pro v17. The same ISO file can be used as a workaround FOR the issue of USB bootable drive creation failure. Users can manually create a USB bootable drive of EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Pro using the downloaded "ImagePE.iso". See images below. (I will be updating this thread when additional news arrives)

 

In comparison, (i) Aomei MyRecover Pro v3.6.0 (Giveaway version) also allows creation of a bootable media straight from the user interface while (ii) Wise Data Recovery Pro v6.1.4.496 (Giveaway version) has a downloadable "portable version". No additional purchase required. See images.

 

Wise Data Recovery Pro (as mentioned), has a downloadable "portable version" from their site. It is free for all who want to use it. Note on the portable version: Wise Data Recovery Pro's portable version can't boot directly into a recovery environment thus a system should be mounted from another device in order for it to work. Check it out HERE. I have also reached out to WiseCleaner support and they have considered my suggestion of a downloadable bootable media.


Pricing
As compared to the alternatives used, EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Pro is expensive at $99.95/year. While Aomei MyRecover costs only $59.95/year and Wise data Recovery Pro at $39.97/year. Let be noted that the alternatives used here for comparison are all free-giveaway versions. So, if you do not want to shell out additional bucks for a recovery software you can search giveaway sites that offer free-Pro version-giveaways.

 

No data-recovery app can retrieve everything. That is a tested fact. Even those that claim that they can retrieve everything, fall short on their claim/promise (in one way or another). When this happens, the user who is desperate to recover his lost files gets disappointed because his files are lost forever. That is a sad fact that he needs to contend with.

Here in this simple test, EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Pro v17.0 got the job done and proves to have some features that aren't offered by the competition. The issue with the "bootable media USB drive creation fail" is a different story though. With such an issue, the user will have diminished recovery options because without the bootable drive he will recover via Windows only or he, (the user) can temporarily use the mentioned workaround with the "ImagePE.iso" file. (As of this writing, I am still waiting on "further" response from EaseUS support.)

Let it be noted that the two alternatives also got the job done of recovering all 8 test files but it is the added features that sets EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Pro apart from both. It is a fast and efficient data recovery application and is recommended. Greatly recommended IF you (or EaseUS) get the bootable media USB drive creation working properly.

With different system environments, the USB bootable creation function may fail. Thus, we provide our customers with more effective and professional technical support. When they have an issue with software usage. Customers can contact us via Email or on our LiveChat at their most convenient time for assistance. We can help the customer solve the bootable USB creation issue with a remote assistance session or more detailed guidance...

I further suggested that they do a "video" of a "remote session " (as given in the statement). This is to show and prove that the USB bootable drive can be created successfully. This communication is still "on-going" and I am still awaiting credible word from EaseUS CS and EaseUS tech Support. A remote session video of a "successful" USB bootable drive creation will definitely prove the otherwise failed creation experienced by yours truly. 

I have been waiting word on the video but EaseUS tech support seems to be sitting on it and then I got hit by an email stating that the remote session service is a "manual paid service" and that I need to purchase it. The latest email reply is below.

So it’s safe to say that EaseUS users will have to purchase a manual (paid) service IF they encounter an issue such as this, USB bootable drive creation failure. And that I will not get any help from them on the matter without availing such paid service.

Again I reiterate (for the record), in this review and test, the issue with the "bootable media USB drive creation fail" remains. It is UNSOLVED. With such an issue, the user will have diminished recovery options because without the bootable drive he will recover via Windows only or he, (the user) can temporarily use the mentioned workaround with the "ImagePE.iso" file. 

When I sent this issue to customer support, EaseUS Support seems to be showing genuine intent to solve the issue and show that such can be resolved. In a matter of days (to a week -- and when EaseUS Tech Support seemed to take over) the tide has turned from repetitive information sending and then yours truly being asked to pay for a manual service. So, the former statement seems to be nothing more than a "coined statement" of assurance from EaseUS support afterwhich the aggrieved user will be asked to avail of a manual (paid) service for a resolution to be made. 

Along the course of our communications (as mentioned), I asked that they make the video themselves (without me) --on their "own controlled environment" so as to show that there isn't really any issues with the USB bootable drive creation. I do not understand why they cannot make the video of a remote session assistance to redeem the failure of their product. The leeway / consideration has been given. On their "own controlled environment". To dispel the "...With different system environments, the USB bootable creation function may fail..." -- thing. 

A remote session assistance isn't any assurance that there will no issues encountered or issues will be resolved by it. Seems EaseUS Tech Support wants any issues solved through a manual (paid) service. Smell something short of a con (lost promises, missed opportunities) here...? SNIFF..SNIFF..

For as long as EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Pro v17.0 (and future versions) downloads the "ImagePE.iso" to its directory, the workaround stays. But if for some reason it stops doing that and the USB bootable drive creation fails again then the user will be in a fix. Good for the user IF he creates the USB bootable drive without failure or IF EaseUS brings back the option to create a "bootable ISO". 

So EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Pro v17.0 is recommended BUT in terms of recovery inside Windows ONLY. Bootable media creation is a FAIL (still to me). It's up to EaseUS to redeem themselves by showing “true” to their statement (sans the paid service) and that it --USB bootable drive can be created without any issues via a remote session video as they so eloquently claim. 

I wanted to add (to Aomei MyRecover’s) and show a successful bootable media creation via MiniTool Power Data Recovery but then again, EaseUS will not lift a finger to show that the issue can be resolved --pay for a manual service first! Really EaseUS?! There lies the rub gentlemen! 

Or, there is always a free alternative being offered somewhere else without issues! 

I rest my case!

EaseUS Support has communicated again and they said that they will work something out for the remote session video. I will be waiting on it.

WinPE USB Bootable Drive Creation of version 18

Creation process seems to be the same though I encountered only 1 failure while creating the USB bootable drive. 




Same issue encountered here (with version 17). USB bootable drive shows empty.

EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Pro version 18 still downloads the "ImagePE.iso" during the creation of the USB bootable drive. Same location (root directory). The actual creation seems not to push through as it STILL shows an empty USB drive. Issue is STILL unresolved. 

There is STILL no communication on the supposed "remote session video" to prove that their (EaseUS) USB bootable drive creation does not fail. 

So, the downloaded "ImagePE.iso" is the version 18 WinPE and you can just use "Ventoy" (or whatever you prefer) to make your own USB bootable drive or better yet include the "ImagePE.iso" in your own "Multiboot USB". 

As of the moment I am still waiting their response.
