AMD has clarified that it made a mistake by listing the Radeon RX 7900 USB-C change in its driver changelog. The note stated that starting with the new driver, AMD would no longer allow this connector to transmit power and recommended reverting to the March driver for users who needed it. The information was straightforward, but no explanation was provided for why such a change was introduced.
It turns out there was no change at all. AMD confirmed that the changelog contained incorrect information and has already been corrected.
Quote:“We’d like to inform you that the release notes for AMD Software Adrenalin Edition 25.10.2 posted today included misinformation that has since been corrected. There is no change to USB-C functionality on the RX 7900 series GPUs in the 25.10.2 driver. There was an incorrect line in the originally posted release notes that has been removed, and the release notes have been updated. We apologize for any inconvenience.”
